Yes, I'm a n00blet. Get over it. Shit.
Anyway.
I love vinyl.
And would really like to know if a) there's anyone else around with a vinyl fetish; and b) what your latest purchases have been.
Discuss.

Awww, yay! That's beautiful. :3
I love it when you find something just perfect for your collection.
I've got anywhere from 110-130 LP's. And a bunch of random singles I've collected over the years.
And sometimes, you just can't resist. There's always something out there to add to the bunch.
But it's really awesome when you finally collect every album by a particular band. It feels kind of like an odd compulsive accomplishment ...

That song always makes me feel good when I listen to it.
Because I don't live there.

It's in MO, meaning not accessible to this user.

I like vinyl. I probably have 150 or so records and a bunch of singles. But generally speaking, I don't like new vinyl. I've only bought maybe 10-15 new albums on record. I like stuff with a history behind it. Most of my best stuff has been inherited from my parents' record collections or found at library sales, thrift stores, yard sales, etc. I bought a whole set of old jazz records from this guy who had scribbled notes about each song off in the margin listing who played on it and what his thoughts were and stuff. I bought a record at a thrift store and found a love letter inside it. My mom's old Chicago records still have all the original extras like giant posters and iron-on transfers of the album cover. That's the sort of thing that gets me going - it's like every record in my collection is a piece of history. You can't buy that at your trendy hipster independent record shop. That being said, there are a few recent (and dare I say, trendy and hipster approved) albums I'd really love to own on vinyl, however they're all impossible to find and out of my budget. And no, that definitely isn't in any way a plea to Matador to re-release If You're Feeling Sinister on vinyl so I don't have to sell my kidneys to be able to afford it, whatever made you think it was? ;-)
