Not who you respect more or think is an overall greater band (Fugazi), but which one do you listen to more...

yeah but ian has said fugazi was hardcore kids trying to be led zeppelin mixed with reggae so i still don't see how the comparison is all that warranted. now if this were at the drive-in vs. drive like jehu, comparision would be totally backed (though i guess you wouldn't get any responses since not a lot of people who post here probably listen to drive like jehu)

at the drive in sucked. esp. compared to fugazi. at the drive in are the most overrated band.

rites of spring...were alright. i like guy's lyrics and voice more than ian's, probably, but not so much in rites of spring. i do like embrace a lot though.

favorite dischord bands?

mine would be...

beauty pill. beefeater. embrace. evens. french toast(AMAZING LIVE). fugazi. government issue. joe lally. lungfish. make up. nation of ulysses. q and not u. scream. shudder to think.

I am in the minority but the Evens are better than rest of Ian's/Guy's/Joe's catalog. Seriously, when you guys grow up and mature from the hipster type At The Drive In music, go back and throw on the Evens album during those rainy lonely days. Shit RULES.

Are you kidding? How do you back this statement up?

they are no where near as influential and interesting as Fugazi has been. Fugazi transcended hardcore, punk, and indie rock. At The Drive In were just a shitty post-hardcore band and everyone rides their nuts way too much.

The question never was who was more influential, but how exactly "At The Drive-In" suck. Besides, even if 90% of music today sucks, a lot of those bands will site ATD-I as their influences, just as ATD-I sited Fugazi as an influence, and not whoever influenced Fugazi and etc etc.

well I did mean in terms of their projects outside of Fugazi, but yeah...I'll take that glass of water, typewriter, speed, the evens combo on a rainy day meaning you agree me. haha

I think in todays terms there are a lot of scene/hipster kids going back and citing bands like At the Drive In to their music enjoyment. Even At the Drive In members joke/hate that fact that their fanbase for that band is bigger now after they broke up then it was when they were active.

So many 17, 18, 19 year olds into that band that had no idea what music was when ATDI was active (see plenty of users on this website)

Because people were young when at the drive-in that makes them hipster garbage? Granted 70% of their fanbase don't listen to much past ROC but still I don't follow your logic.

my logic is that when at the drive in was around there still wasn't all these styles or trends or bands around when they were. Case and point

FEARLESS RECORDS ROSTER AFTER ATDI:

A STATIC LULLABY
ALESANA
THE FULLY DOWN
THE MAINE
MAYDAY PARADE
PUNK GOES SERIES
ETC ETC ETC ETC

That label changed with the fucking times/trends/styles. There are plenty of kids with shitty music, a shitty look that people like you, Jeff, make fun of everyday that are into At the Drive In.

I worked at Hot Topic for 3 years. I have worked and met these kinds of kids EVERY day. They definitely have more a scene/hipster/trend changing fanbase today many years after they were broken up.

Take Rawwr for example 15 years old and listens to the most elitist shit a 15 year old could listen to. No doubt he will burn himself out/commit suicide once he hits his twenties, think about what you were doing/what you liked at FUCKING 15 YEARS OLD.

It certainly wasn't name drop band ___ and name drop band ___. It was probably I can't wait to get out of 9th or 10th grade class today and what's for lunch and oooo video games and hey my friends are riding bikes/going outside, maybe I should too since I can't even fucking DRIVE A CAR YET.

One could make that argument because that same label/guys that once believe in At The Drive In now believes in those bands so...

It's just funny, and members of At The Drive In or right in that aspect, that whole style/genre went to shit, that whole direction sucks and they are embarrassed to be apart of it and ashamed of the fucking kids that like At the Drive In today, which kind of does make them a tad bit overrated.

they might. it's very hard for them to tour because the members all live kinda spread out in maine, as my understanding goes.

i know ryan conrad is all over the place as well. he's very active in the radical community as well as many others.

he lives in this really cool house kinda like commune in a lot of ways. everyone works for everyone and helps everyone as well.

i know he works in the apple fields during picking season as well...

i hope they tour soon. i would love to see them.

and/or, his old band, played philly i think a couple times.

ughhh. it's ashame more people can't see them.
