"Already, the 27 EU nations are divided over deploying troops to Afghanistan and deadlocked on a constitution designed to transform their union into a political super-state. Only 15 countries now use the common euro currency and the pride of the bloc — passport-free travel — doesn't apply to the entire EU. Failure to pull together now on the financial crisis could push member nations even further apart, perhaps emboldening a resurgent Russia's influence on the fringes of the enlarged EU."
Will this financial crisis cripple the EU?

Trying to avoid what is going to happen by putting it off only makes it worse when it really happens.
The world needs to go to shit, starting with the US. Then we can't afford these two illegal wars and they'll end.
Concerning the EU, at least the euro is stable.

You caught the seriousness. I didn't think anyone would. Mostly because there is none there.
Though I do think with an economic downturn, it would end these wars effectively.

Haha wow talk about misinformed. I can't be bothered adressing that but EU is more stable now than it has ever been.
I'd be interested in hearing why you think this. The only things I have read about the European Union lately is how indecisive and split they have been on issues like Georgia and the current financial crisis.

I wouldn't call Georgia or the financial crisis petty things, but I understand your point.
From what I understand, the EU's goal is to be an economic super state that rivals the major players in the world today (Russia, America, etc.). It seems that they have failed to act decisevly in reaction to recent events, so I am left wondering if the EU can truly ever come together to acheive this goal, or if it will fall into irrelevance as countries start to go their own way in dealing with these events.
By the way, you probably know a lot more about the EU than me. This is simply my speculation so feel free to enlighten me.
