The 80's were absolutly terrible in comparison to the rest of the decades. If anything the 70's or the 60's would be the best.

I'm aware that there was good that came out of the 80's, but there was definately more bad than good.

90's or now. as far as mainstrem goes, 1990-1997 was a fantastic time to listen to the radio, you'd hear gin blossoms, toad the wet sprocket, tonic, r.e.m., pearl jam, nirvana, soul asylum, the toadies, etc. alt. rock was fantastic back then
I would say now, but that's because I'm far too lazy to dig back and find older music, whereas finding new recent bands is a lot easier. Although two of my favourite artists primes were in the 90s.

The 70's was were it was at.
But of the decades listed I'm going to cheat and say the decade of 1994-2004.

What are you basing that statement on?
Sure, the '80s was one of the first decades where some of the best music wasn't featured in the mainstream, but I think it's silly to make a blanket statement: "the '80s was a terrible decade for music because there was a lot of trash."
Hell, the '70s had its fair share of terrible music, so did the two proceeding decades. That doesn't negate the copious amount of good music to be found.
The rise of Hip Hop in the public consciousness, Hardcore, the initial wave of "Indie bands," one of the best Pop tour de forces.
There were tons of great albums and artists. The '80s was hardly a poor decade for music.
Though I enjoy music today much more than music from the aforementioned decades, I would have to go 90s. Too much influence to ignore.

Fair enough. Working at a classic rock station all I ear all day is garbage such as Dokken, Jackyl, Quiet Riot! I'm more biased than anything.

The exact same can be said of the '80s.

I'll take the 1960's over the three options we were given.
Of the choices in the first post, I'd have to go with current music because it's easier to find good music than it used to be so I feel like I've been exposed to more of it.
I do enjoy the 90s... not a fan of most 80s music at all though.
The exact same can be said of the '80s.
Agreed. Only my personal preference pits the 90s over the 80s given my tastes.

There's a wide-range of great music in each of the last five decades; I don't see the purpose in trying to distinguish superiority among them.
