Empty Promise - Conscience Today
Record Label: None
Release Date: 2007

Who?

Empty Promise are a melodic punk rock band hailing from Wien, Austria. Formed in January of 2007, they have been hard at work building up a name for themselves. They expect to release a full length LP sometime in 2009.

How is it?

When I received the EP in the mail, it was the first time I'd ever listened to the band, and suffice to say, I was impressed. From their instantly-catchy melodies to their soaring guitar work, Empty Promise left me wanting more than just the six songs offered. Hearkening back to the glory days of melodic/skate-punk, Empty Promise don't fool around with any nonsense, and stick to playing what is simply honest, fun, punk rock. Songs like "So Far Away" and "Mediocre Lies" are reminiscent of No Use for a Name, while songs like "Next One In Line" could be likened to A Wilhelm Scream. With their tight percussion, infectious vocals and precision guitar work, Empty Promise are sure to satisfy anyone with an appetite for honest punk rock done right.

Overall, Conscience Today EP is a stellar first offering and I'm definitely anticipating what they do next.

Nice review... I'll probably check these guys out. They sound like my bag.

Not a fan of the singer's voice. It sounds like he's doing a Jeff Ott vocal style at times(which is not why i dont like his voice).

But you're right, they're fun to listen to. At least they're somewhat political!
