Deas Vail - White Lights
Record Label: Brave New World Records
Release Date: August 26, 2008

Who?

A soothing band known as Deas Vail who impressed with their previous album All The Houses Look The Same. They aim to strike at the hearts of people who love soft melodies and enchanting lullabies again with White Lights.

How is it?

With an innocent and almost mysterious tone, Deas Vail manages to charm again with great vocal range and ear-pleasing piano notes over fantastic instrument work that manages to keep the album simple and sweet. The title track will be the obvious crowd-pleaser with Wes Blaylock displaying his lyrical prowess combined with his magical vocals; ”Hit or miss attack/ She missed it/ She’s got white lights on her face/ From the bad ties she can’t erase.” White Lights only becomes increasingly easier to like as “From Priests And Thieves” leaves you blissfully humming along with harmonies that are just too perfectly made along side beautiful backing vocals complements of the talented keyboardist, Laura Blaylock. As White Lights ends on the string-filled track “Balance,” you will find yourself complaining that your experience with Deas Vail’s wonderful, feel-good melodies and smile-inducing vocals has ended far too soon.

True in the debut full length. Not true in this EP.

This band is being compared to Mew a lot (i'm a huge mew fan) so yeah, I kinda light this EP and the album :)

How was it lazy? It was five songs. I've seen shorter reviews before too. I won't write three paragraphs for an EP.

Thanks! Balance is my personal favorite
