the point of the matter is, high school musical is going to make a sick load of money, regardless of how "bad" or "crappy" it is....its a giant franchise...every kid from the age 8-18 will probably see this.

im going with 75 million opening weekend.... blowing away my precious saw series.

if anything, you might see HSM3's numbers inflated because of Saw. More teenage boys will buy HSM tickets to sneak into Saw.

I'm just saying I think if it WASN'T opening against Saw V, you'd see numbers even higher than that.well obviously, the ideal situation for a movie would be for it to not share it's opening with another movie, no matter what it is, but like i said i dont see these two movies effecting each other THAT much since they are geared towards different crowds. it's like saying mamma mia effected the dark knights numbers.

all the hype surrounding it might mean that it'll do ok but i still reckon the actual movie will be shit. i really liked the first one but the second one was crap and this one will probably be even crappier.

And to say that HSM3 numbers werent effected by Saw, or vice versa....is incorrect. Im not saying that either movie took away 30million from the other, but it definitley caused a 10million swing.

All the high schoolers who were on the fence to seeing this movie for a "farse" or to see it cause their "girlfriends" wanted to see it...ended up choosing Saw instead. Its not a GIANT change...but without HSM3 Saw couldve made 38million....and without Saw HSM couldve hit 50mil.

Saw 5 = 30milllion..... wow thats impressive. though. As a big saw fan, it was a disgrace to the series, but this 30million means many more saws to come ha.

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if it was one of the top 10 highest grossing movies this year. It's still number 1 at the box office. Hopefully Quantum of Solace next week will put an end to that.
