Actual interest, I never really listened to them until recently but I got The Queen Is Dead and absolutely love it, and Dance Gavin Dance's new album has been on a regular rotation for me.

Okay I believe that at some point we should restructure the whole American economy in an Anarcho-Syndicalist fashion in wish the workers own all of their production and hire management instead of vice-verca. All workers would control equal shares of the business but all wages would be tied to the company. There would be twice a year elections for a Worker's Council which would hire the said management which would all lobby for positions and they would cooperating with the Worker's Council would make desicions on where the company would go. Of course there are practicallity issues with this but it is just an idea.

I think that it sounds like I am a Democratic party line type person just because of my postings but I have largely become that way because I think Kenyesianism and their leftism is more practical and I think nothing else would get political gain in this country. Philosophically I am somewhat of a Socialist that doesn't care much about social issues.

I do not think you can ever claim to know what is best for workers and the most productive way to run a factory or any business until you've actually worked a minimum wage job because (and I'm sure many older folks will back me up on this) it's very easy when you're a kid and in school to have a romanticised view of socialism and it's practicle application but when you actually take that step into the working world yourself you'll quickly realise what a bad idea this is. I was like you too at 16, but having actually gone out there and worked in shitty places for shit pay with the 'workers' I can guarentee you it would take a complete overhaul in the culture of humanity for this to have any chance of ever succeeding.

In what lifetime is Maynard Keynes economic more practical than Austrian? Surely it is far less practicle and letting everyone just get on with it is more practical? I'm not saying which is 'better' but there's no way Hayek is less practical.
I have never claimed to know what is best for workers but for them to know what is best for themselves thus wanting them to have ownership of their own production but anyways I see your points I just don't necessarily agree with them. Voting for a council which then votes for management does not constitute running your business.

Hmmmmm I just think Keynes has less turbulent markets than Austrian which leads to a much better, gradual invisible hand on the market not as affected by small trends on the market. I think this whole peak oil problem is going to be where Keynesian economics is much better than Austrian.

Our economy was destroyed after war, picked up a little until the seventies, improved a lot in the seventies, eighties and nineties and despite the current crisis is as strong as it has been for a long time. Mostly because we just gave up wasting money making stuff entirely and became a completely modern state (I don't think any state is futher along than us economically in that we are an almost solely tertiary economy.)

To compare the British economy to the US is madness though, the US is in a completely different universe.
New Labour still ditched most of its socialism and has some very free market, capitalist twitches that make it similar to Clinton's NDC in America in a Third Way setup.

But then who will make all of the goods if you do not produce much? There are many flaws in the modern economy that no one sees. It can't stay the way it is forever with third world countries producing almost everything in a sort of long distance slavery.

Yeah I worked in a carvery all summer so a similar thing and doing so made it pretty clear to me that the kind of people who do these jobs full time do so by and large because they are useless and that's the best they can do and to put them in charge of important institutions like railways, buses, construction and so on would be a horrendous idea.

Man is a selfish beast and only works communally so he himself can have gain, and if that gain is slight in the case of the Macdonalds scenario it's far more likely he'd bring a tv to work and let the customers do what they like than him working for the communal good of his company, of which he owns to smallest stake of. Anything communal like that can only ever work with very small and personal groups.

Exactly, a cynical view but I believe it's the most realistic in this case. To think that competition between companies would increase output/efficiency would only be the case if the employees had a larger stake in the business, or if it was some sort of family run smaller business. Then you'd get the classic case of hometown family business taking on multi million dollar corporation, in which case competition COULD create motivation, as they would have more stake in the business.
