I have been interested in making my own website/ezine for a while. Are websites like hometown aol and other website makers worthwhile or what?

I remember hometown.aol being a joke.

No dude you probably need to get your own site and do the html yourself. I think it's only $5 a year to get your own domain. But you should be able to make most of that up with ads.
Oh and marrost, I think your sig is hilarious. ripleyupchuck goes to my school, he seems like a cool guy.

ugh. don't use freeservers.
either find someone with a domain who is willing to host you, or buy webspace yourself. the name should cost about $5-$8/year, the webspace itself should be around $30-50/year, depending on what you are looking at and what kind of stuff you need as well. you can get advertisers to pay you certain amounts for posting banners of theirs, but usually you need to be able to guaruntee a certain amount of hits to make any good money.
oh, and make sure you have a good designer/coder because good coding makes a huge world of difference. and a good design will keep people more interested.

- Buy webspace and a domain.
- Find someone good with photoshop (like...me?)
- Find someone good with coding (for an ezine your gonna want someone good with html AND php/CGI...and maybe XML)
That's a good start...
