Check out this band from Calabasas, CA. They're called Onset of Effect and half of the members are still in high school. At first they come across as any other scremo band, but on a closer listen, you'll hear incredible guitar layers and intense drum tracks. I actually heard some of their newer material and it has that free form rock style like The Mars Volta. Unlike other bands who seem to be copying other trends, Onset of Effect actually sound like they're trying to do something new. I also read on their MySpace page that they will be playing some of the West Coast dates on this year's Warped Tour. I'll put money down, that these boys will be making a big name for themselves very soon.
