HSB.com (http://www.hatesomethingbeautiful.com/chat/viewtopic.php?t=4709) recently sat down to ask some questions with John and Michelle Nolan of Straylight Run (www.straylightrun.com).

Paul: Wow, it's got to be like an honor to hear people say something like that. So...how would you guys compare the album to the original demos released on the internet?
John: I think we did, we did very well with them. A lot of people, I know there were a lot of fans who disagreed... That's me. Not to be disagreeable, but I just like music better when it's more raw (see: Northstar - Is This Thing Loaded?).

Paul: Who's Shaun rooting for? I know he's really into this. [as we speak, Shaun is sitting at the other end of the bus, watching the game]
Michelle: Pennsylvania.
John: He chose that out of the blue though, I think he just wanted to decide on someone and, because you know, it's always funner to pick someone to win, whether you care or not, to get yourself excited. I don't care, I'll root for whoever has won the least Superbowls.
Paul: The Eagles.
Michelle: Pennsylvania.

did anyone else find it amusing when Michelle kept saying "Pennsylvania" during that whole conversation about the super bowl. It just seemed like she was saying it so matter of factly, like she KNEW it was the Pennsylvania Eagles. or maybe thats just me who took it that way. whatever, as long as i was amused, that is all that matters

I think that guy is one of the worst and most unprofessional interviewers I've ever seen.

haha, exactly how i like it...I hate when interviews are more like job interviews then informative laid back ones. In my opinion, an interview between 3 young adults shouldn't be all busess-like and professional, it should seem like a conversation.

haha i wish i had left my recorder on afterwards, because michelle was telling me this one story. apparently, one time, she was sitting on the bus with her headphones on with all guys sitting around then suddenly some guy farts. they start cracking up and she hears them go like "guys! guys! shhhh she's got her headphones on!". ok maybe it's funnier in person...i thought it was pretty damn funny at the time.

Paul: No, that's all right, haha. I don't know. So one person wanted to know if there's any way you guys are going to do anything with Brand New anytime soon.
John: There's a way.
Michelle: There's nothing planned but we're friends and we're totally open to the possibility..

awesome

Yeah, I thought it was a pretty crappy interview the first time around, and then I realized that John and Michelle seemed down with it. It did lead to flow more like a conversation (which Frank said, too) which is great, but I do think that if the band isn't digging the laid back style, you're going to get a bad interview. Luckily, John and Michelle seemed real cool.

It was kind of boring. No original questions. I'll agree on that. Then again, they never answered the questions that well.

haha yes, keanu reeves is one of the worst (big) actors out there, if you exclude the bill & ted series

i liked the fight interview much more because as talented the nolan family is you can't beat K8! and the energy they have. Good job Paul.

Fine..maybe I'm just used to conducting radio interviews that require some quality to them. I'm just saying, we don't need more interviews with Straylight Run. They're an amazing band, but there've been so many interviews with them...and we all knew most of the answers to all the questions that Tao asked.

I will give it to ya that Michelle's "Pennsylvania" thing was rather amusing.
