I never finished this, one of those things I mean to do but I already know the ending and there are so many movies I haven't even seen half of

Hell, even if you know the plot, watch it for Hopkins' acting. He was perfect in his role. Silence is Probably my favorite movie of all time.

When Clarice walks into the hall with him just standing there at the very beginning and hes standing there looking at her, god that is scary as fuck.

I agree. One of the most memorable characters in movie history, and he had only 30 minutes of screentime. Here's proof:

Hannibal Lecter is probably my favorite movie villain ever.

you know - for a long while I always thought the whole "it puts the lotion on its skin!" thing was from Joe Dirt.

Wikipedia says 16 minutes! That is fucking insane.

I love this film, but it's been so long since I last saw it. I ought to buy it on dvd.

Is Hannibal Rising any good? Metacritic says it sucks, but I don't know. I love that character and I love movies about demented children. Hannibal was supposed to be a great sequel but that sucked (imo), so maybe Hannibal Rising would be good.

I didn;t like Hannibal, so I didn't bother with the next one.

Yeah, like I said, I didn't like Hannibal either. The whole movie felt like it was building up to something big, and it really didn't. I don't know why it was called Hannibal, hes not onscreen that much and he kills like 3 people or something. I didn't like the Jodie Foster replacement either. Her character was completely changed from thoughtful, nice, innocent Clarice to big, bad, mean feisty Clarice and I did not enjoy it. Also, they waited too long to make the damn sequel. Production had vastly improved ten years later, adding to the impression that even though it technically was, it didn't feel like a real sequel.

Oh my god Hannibal Rising is extremely boring and the acting is completely stale. The plot is just complete garbage with insensible additives. The guy playing Lector is awful and brings nothing to the character. There is absolutely no suspense and the directing is pedestrian. If they had slapped any name on the character then this movie wouldn't have any appeal to anybody. It simply tainted the name of Hannibal.

When was it made?

2002 if I'm not mistaken. It was pretty good, but nowhere near as good as Silence.

Red Dragon was decent cause of Ed Norton, Ralph Fiennes, and a little bit of Phillip Seymour Hoffman.

Yes. Hopkins was good as well, but the actual movie was just OK

I don't know if scary is the right word. Definitely makes you kinda uncomfortable though.

finally saw this. the parts that took place in Buffalo Bill's basement disturbed me like no other movie has. although I thought the whole "would you fuck me? I'd fuck me" bit was from a comedy lol

lol that's where I originally thought it had come from, but yes great movie. of course Hopkins stole the show, but Ted Levine did a fantastic job. truly disturbing. also got a good laugh when I found out he was also Big Bob in the Hills Have Eyes remake lol

Voice of Rusty Nail, too, in Joy Ride. And he was in The Fast and the Furious, lol. He's a great actor and a hell of a voice behind him.

the voice is an integral part of Buffalo Bill's creep factor, definitely
