Placebo... i hope that the new record will be better than the last one. 'Meds' was terrible.

I don't think there will be a new +44 record anytime soon... I mean Travis had a pretty bad accident..

I dont get why everyones assuming that a new Brand New CD wont be out next year. They've supposedly already started recording and its about time for a new CD anyway. Deja came out in 03, Devil in 06, and 09 would continue that trend.

Well, both Green Day and Paramore should have new albums out next year, so I'm looking foreword to that. Of course, I have a feeling the new Green Day album is gonna become another Chinese Democracy. Actually, I'll put Chinese Democracy on my list as well, I doubt that the Nov 23 date is gonna be much of anything.

These are albums which based on when their last record came out (either 2006 or Q1 2007) there's a great chance they will get a new album out at some point in 2009.

Well looking at is past record he always gets something out within 2-3 years of the last record and as Cassadagga was extremely early 2007 I'd say it's near certain he'll have something for us in 2009.

I don't think they've even gone into the studio yet. The chances of them getting all of the recording and mastering and pressing done by the end of the year are slim I'd say. Stoked for new 'Gandhi though.

Inconsistency was what really hurt Cassadaga. It's split down the middle with the countryish tunes on the front half and earthier work on the back making for an awkward listen. If he can manage an album full of strong, catchy songs similar to Four Winds it would indeed be quite good.

I'm not usually up to speed on new material until days/weeks before the album release so at this point, I have no idea what my most anticipated are.

Until The Bombs
10/11/08, 11:15 PM
Nah that stuff is done with he has three full albums of those songs, why would you want any more?

So many kids are stuck in a time warp when it comes to bands like Bright Eyes. Lifted... was released over six years ago now. Oberst was in his early twenties. Why would he still write the same albums as he approaches his 30's?

Cassadaga was much more catchy than people seem to be giving it credit for. Soul Singer in a Session Band and If The Brakeman Turns My Way are easily two of the catchiest songs he's ever done.

neil & the boys have been recording since last december, so i was really hoping for an album this year. but they've also been touring like crazy, so they're taking their time on the album front haha. but yea, time on earth was incredible & i can't understand why everyone on ap wasn't all over it last year. i got to see them on tour last novemeber & holy wow... they were fantastic. the new drummer can never replace hestor, but he still fits in well (he was beck's drummer). they played all the classics, few hidden gems, roaring guitar solos, crowd sing-a-longs, covered "killing in the name of" & neil beat-boxed like a madman haha. get excited

That is very true. Let's hope.

What was so good about 2006 and 2003?

2003:
Hail to the Thief
Deja Entendu
The Ugly Organ
War All the Time
Everything Goes Numb
De-Loused in the Comatorium
Ribbons and Sugar
Take This to Your Grave
Transatlantiscism
The Earth is Not a Cold Dead Place

2006:
A City by the Light Divided
Waiter: "You Vultures!"
Black Holes & Revelations
Brother, Sister
Dog Problems
The Great Depression
Happy Hollow
The Devil and God are Raging Inside Me

Those come to mind.

You missed the album of 2006; The Crane Wife. Evven with it though it seems a pretty average year. A lot better than this year but nothing special.

2003 is better but it's not 1965, 1966, 1967, 1968, 1969, 1970, 1997, 1998 or 2000.

I think 2007 was a pretty stand out year.

I'm not big on The Decemberists.

Truth be told.

Not so much for me.

I really hope The Johnstones come out with some new stuff in 09.. they just released their "Sex" EP this year but I can't wait for more haha.. I can never get enough of them!!
They're an amazing ska band from Ajax, Ontario, Canada and play amazing music thats really fun to listen to.. definitely one of my favourite bands! http://www.johnstonessex.com
you guys should check them out, I can almost guarantee you'll enjoy them.. and if you ever get a chance to go to one of their shows, go for sure.. they're great live and have so much energy.. and they're wicked good to their fans! take a look at their youtube channel http://www.youtube.com/phatbredrens
they have some of their songs on myspace if anyone wants to give them a listen!:) http://www.myspace.com/thejohnstones
Not only are they really talented but they're just one of those bands that really stand out in a crowd; they have a really unique twist to their music and they make it so clear that they love what they do, and it's pretty hard not to admire that.

I'm just hoping that Alexisonfire, Finch, Ataris start writing like how the first started because I'm starting to lose hope nowadays. BTBAM - Colors live definitly gave me a hardon and made up for 08 and same with Lydia - Illuminate.

As for Saosin... They should've renamed the band when they put out the self-titled... Was disappointed seeing the transition on how amazing they were live with cove at warped tour '05 and then hearing the self titled.

I just want to see what BtBaM does next because Colors was so dicking good that following it up will be almost impossible. I'm pretty sure no matter how good it is it'll be a bit of a disappointment.

I hope the Mars Volta comes out with a new album soon, and that it has nothing to do with fucking posessed ouija boards, although Bedlam was pretty good.

Born of Osiris is recording right now. The New Reign was good - maybe two years of maturing will yield an album with some direction and really achieve some potential.

Also want to see new material from-
Arcade Fire
Muse
Dredg
Death Cab
The Killers
Common
