I've seen every possible answer given for this question. Let's see what is the most popular (probably Lonesome Crowded West?

I'm deciding between Moon, Lonesome, and Long Drive right now.

I don't see the point in putting all these records, it's gonna end up being the moon or lonesome

I do not want people telling me I'm missing any albums. And any one of these could be someone's favorite. I know Building is Rawrr's favorite.

Really tough call between Moon and Lonesome....went with Lonesome though.

Yes, Twizx, I do, but those polls get no responses. Fuck off.

Rodger that.

Edit: voted for good news by the way.

Moon.

I think I agree... I still don't know. Moon is obviously their best, but LCW gets to me sometimes. Moon is obviously the best lyrically, but again, LCW just has some undefinable quality to it (to me, anyway). I still need time to decide.

i haven't heard them all, but mine is Lonesome Crowded West. It has such an amazingly coherent vibe to it, even if some of the songs sound so different from each other. In my opinion, it's a stroke of genius.

Either LCW or Moon depending on my mood, right now. It's LCW.

I think it was a little unneeded to put down as many options as you did. I mean, a few of them overlap with eachother (Interstate 8, Building Nothing) and a few are some that no one is seriously going to pick and if they do they deserve a punch in the face (Blue Cadet, Everywhere and His Nasty Parlor Tricks)

Not in order by release, or at least alphabetical? Not going too care.

I'd go with Lonesome Crowded West. I love nearly all of their albums, but I've always had a soft spot for that one. It was the first one that really got me into them, and Jesus Christ is an Only Child and Cowboy Dan are two of their best songs.

What is this?

Order by type of release - Full Album, EPs, Compilations.

LCW will always be my favourite, but I may be biased because it was the one that got me into them and because it reminds me of certain memories/people.

it's Long Drive hands down. first and most raw. it's one hell of a first record. most bands would kill to have their first album to be as well rounded. the lyrics are strong and music is original. indie at it's best.

The Moon & Antarctica easily for me.

Going to say Good News as of now. Mainly because I love multiple tracks on that record, but don't fully know their other albums yet. (Besides Moon and Antarctica/This is a Long Drive)

I know it's totally uncool of me to say, but We Were Dead... is by far their best.

I think they are one band who tuly gets better and better without "selling out" their sound. Modest Mouse was/is/will always be Modest Mouse, but maturity and the addition Johnny Mar have only deepened and strengthened their sound.
