They lost...so you are partially right...but if they win, how can you call a team at 5-1 in the toughest division in the NFL "underachieving". That's one of the dumber things I've seen typed; the Browns are underachieving...the Colts to today, were underachieving...the Cowboys just weren't dominating as people had hyped them to (which was at just silly levels).

You're argument, I assume, is that they weren't beating teams by 20+ points like people predicted...and that's stupid. No team at 5-1 has or ever will underachieve...they may have sloppy wins, but a win is ALWAYS achieving...don't get that perception wrong. The argument you're making is that the Patriots last year "underachieved" during the Jets and Ravens games, simply because they won close games against teams that were very well prepared for them (and subsequently giving their best performances).

The common thought is that most NFL teams are at most, about 10-15% better than any other NFL team each week...and so one off game, coupled with another teams best game, can lead to an upset (unlike in college, where that disparity can be 40-50%, and create literally un-winnable games)...so to avoid those upsets is not underachieiving
