I have to agree here, I mean don't get me wrong I love the Movielife but seriously you have to think this through. Originality, Rare opportunities, the progression of music. This is a Long Island kid even saying, At The Drive In.

At The Drive In had legendary shows. I remember reading about them having so much energy that Cedric would destroy 5 different microphones in a single set. Or, you could just watch the One Armed Scissor music video and it's pretty apparent how amazing they were live.

Sparta and the mars volta are much better. That being said I would rather see the movielife get back together b/c I love sparta and the mars volta better than ATDI and I wouldn't mind getting to see the movielife play shows again.

A couple months ago, I would have tenuously agreed with you. However, now both bands have put out sub-par albums by their standards... while Sparta's newest isn't so much of a disappointment (it's nothing new), Frances the Mute is not good. It has at least 25 minutes of unneeded garbage. If it were 50 minutes as opposed to 77, I'd be forced to rethink my position, but as it stands I don't have to. I like to fill up my mix cd's to within 5 minutes of the maximum capacity of the cd (80 minutes), but bands should know that it's just unacceptable for them to try on their own.

Oh man I remember when The Movielife was Kid Dynamite a couple years back. They were some of my first taste of Long Island Punk Music living hear on Long Island.

with that said Id much rather have At the Drive In. The first time I heard one armed scissor I was pretty much in a trance. They were the first to make my taste in music much more eclectic and not just Blink 182.

Is it just me or was breaking up the smartest thing The Movielife ever did? Don't get me wrong, I loved them, but they're getting lavished with praise only because they weren't around to put out a shitty album after 40 Hour (not saying it was guaranteed). It just seems that if they were still around and putting out a record every two years (we'd be due for a new one soon), there wouldn't be nearly this much talk about them.
