I gotta say I hate them with a passion. I feel like all the work always falls on me.

Same here. Usually I get stuck with all the work. Either that, or I'm assigned to work with people who are so stupid they aren't even capable of tying their shoes, so I end up doing all of the work just so I don't fail.

I think I'm gonna have to have a chat with my professor. We've had group discussions before but nothing this big. I'm irritated with her because I swear she picks the introverts(it is a psych of human relations class) to lead the groups. I almost had a panic attack last week when she told us about this.

i usually shift the work load onto someone else and try to do as little as possible.

I like them because it's easier to do work that way

I don't really enjoy group projects because the work is split up, and I don't trust other people with my grades. Not everyone in the group gets recognized for all their hard work. But you can kind of slack off when you're bored.

i always liked group presentations because it means your not standing up in front of the class all by yourself. but the worst is when you get stuck in some shitty group full of douches who have no-idea what the hell is going on and so you have to do all the work. i remember one project i was doing at uni when there was three of us and only two of us were doing work on it. the third guy was a complete flake who wouldnt even return our calls so we could set up a time to get together. after a bit we got fed up and approached our teacher, explained the situation to him and as it turned out he got zero and we got a distinction.

I hear ya. My group and I got together to work on our position paper for a debate. The one kid wrote three pages on completely nonsense that had nothing to do with the topic, while my three pages I thought were impressive. I'm rewriting the paper myself because my grades > my personal free time.

I hate doing group projects because I feel like I'm much smarter than everybody else in my group, which is often true. So because I feel like getting a good grade, I insist upon doing most, if not all, of the work. But even though I hate doing group projects, I always end up working with other people when given that choice because I don't want to be branded as the loser who does projects by himself.

I completely understand how you feel. For one of my classes, I have to work in a group with two other people for a project. One of them fails to show up to most of our project meetings (even if a section of our project is due the next day), and when she does, she doesn't contribute at all.

I just worked on an Oral Presentation with this girl who's never done one before in her life. Didn't do any work at all, AND asked me if my PSYCH TEACHER would notice if she just made up information on a PSYCH presentation. She is the reason I hate group projects.

I hate group projects, they are the absolute worst. I feel like group projects are something you do in like grade school...and to do them is college is ridiculous IMO

Bump

UGHHHHHHHHHHH. I've had two this year, and because I take initiative and start on the power points, everyone seems to go retarded and doesn't know how to function. They keep asking me has to be done. I don't know, I'm winging this. Look through the ppt and essay i sent out, see anything missing? then add to it. Stop asking me what has to be added, read through everything yourself and figure it out I'n not your mom. We're almost juniors in college, like I'm not going to spoon feed you.

sigh

at least it was 31 cent scoop day at BR's today.

Group projects are awful. Teachers at our school are very into allowing "challenged" kids and the dumb ones work at these projects with us and they're always paired with the smarter kids in the class (me) so usually I end up doing the whole 3 or 4 person project. Its awful
