Should I listen to ? ? I have an 80 gig iPod classic that I really wanna fill. I also wanna expand the bands I listen to. I dont care if you dont like any of the bands that I listen to or not. I Just wanna know what some cool bands are. They can be big and famous or they can be some small local hometown band. I dont care about what genres either. Im pretty open to any genre right now. Tell me some bands and I will go check them out.

My recommendation is not bands but users.
Do not take recs from the following people as they like hideous music and are bad people.
Venom452
WakeUpBlondie
540tofakie.
On any thread like this you will within an hour have recieived upwards of 50 bands to check out. No way can any one person get into that much music and you'll have no idea who's giving you good ideas and who's giving you bad.
So instead I propose you private message the following users who are reliable sources of good music, asking for 3 or 4 bands they value above all others.
El_Jeffe
IWasACamera
xtogepix
HangsLikeHeaven
Funkel
kearn1tm
and of course myself.
Haha that was brilliant, although judging by her existing taste I doubt she's going to like much music they'd recommend. Worth a shot anyway.
Personally, as I'm the only one I know that listens to the kinda music I listen to, I find last.fm helpful with it's little recommendations, found so many good bands through that.

SUCKS FOR YOU!
But seriously, yeah mine's been brilliant. A few shit bands come up, but most can be determined by the bands they're meant to sound like.
It's odd for them to rec ones you've already listened to a load though, must be annoying. But yeah it's been great for me, maybe try the recommended radio station and skip through the rubbish?

I can already predict some of the other recs from the reliable sources (Lunchforthesky, El Jeffe, Iwasacamera, togepi, etc), and they're all be worth checking out, so I'm going to throw a handful of less accessible (and in some cases, incredibly esoteric) albums that I imagine you'll like after repeated listens, if for nothing else, than the novelty factor:
1.) Richard Hell & the Voidoids -- Blank Generation
Respected as one of the luminary Punk releases during it's height in the mid '70s, yet oddly enough, hardly mentioned on this site, it's Hell's racious vocals mixed with a somewhat polished pop sheen that make this the ultimate Pop Punk album of the decade in my humble opinion. Scratch the "inaccessible" edict of this post, this album is quite easy to listen to.
2.) Suicide -- Suicide (first self-titled)
The album that essentially laid the foundation for Synth Pop and, to a greater extent, Post-Rock and Industrial, this band is directly responsible for contemporaries such as Editors and She Wants Revenge (both insipid, but direct descendents). Droning loops, buried digital hooks - it's haunting, often disturbing pop. It's rock minimalism at it's finest: 3-chord progressions and synthesized ambience.
3.) Throbbing Gristle -- 20 Jazz Funk Greats
This is an album that makes you feel disgusting after listening to it, yet you're hopelessly engaged and addicted to it and forced to listen again. One of the pioneers of Industrial music, 20 Jazz is their finest accomplishment - horrific, kitschy, transgressive lyrics paired with ugly caphony.
4.) Vijay Iyer and Rudresh Mahanthappa -- Raw Materials
Two of the most promising contemporary Jazz musicians collaborate to synthesize Ragga-Bob, Indo-Jazz and that New York Jazz sound together into an innovative, and surprisingly accessible album.
5.) Swans -- Cop
Experimental noise rock that spawned from the No Wave movement of the '70s, Cop is, in following the tradition of Swans releases, an incredibly confronational, aggressive, ugly album, both lyrically and sonically. The album consists mostly of a formula - sprialing but minimal chord progression that serves as a skeleton for the crunching drums and loud, awkwardly placed feedback sound paired with the cries and inhuman moans from vocalist Michael Gera. Good for when you're pissed, to say the least (and want to wallow in anger).

You've talked to me before, you know we share at least remotely similar tastes.. So here's some you may like that are outside your realm:
Miniature Tigers.
Mock Orange.
Lovedrug.
Castledoor.
The Myriad.
Warship.
These Green Eyes.
Idiot Pilot.
Blindside's old material is good.
As far as some scene bands go that you may not know that I'm partial to:
Oceana
Lovehatehero
Kills And Thrills
Chasing Victory
Akissforjersey
Of the scene bands, I think they pretty much get it done.

I have to save most of my money for school and that kind of stuff. But luckily I got a new iPod for Christmas last year so I should be good until I graduate.
Yeah, I was going crazy having close to 300 and not being able to buy the CDs I wanted.
Well, if you wanna stay within the confines of pop punk, Paramore and Green Day are both great. Most of the other bands mentioned here are pretty good too, except maybe Tokio Hotel. If you wanna think outside the box, give some Nirvana a listen. Start with Nevermind, it's the most mainstream album of theirs, and then give Bleach and In Utero a try. In all honesty, it's hard to make recommendations without knowing some of your tastes. Maybe you could add some bands that you listen to into the main post, it should help out quite a bit.
