I went with Thursday, not that it has anything to do with my answer, but I really don't see Glassjaw as post-hardcore, they always seemed more like... I don't know, experimental to me.
Thursday.
I enjoy HA more than I enjoy Glassjaw.

id love for someone to define post hardcore
In the early-to-mid '80s, several bands in the United States came to life that were inspired by the do-it-yourself ethics and the cathartic, guitar-heavy material characterized by the hardcore punk bands that predated them. These newer bands, termed post-hardcore, often found complex and dynamic ways of blowing off steam that generally went outside the strict hardcore realm of "loud fast rules." These bands often used more than three chords and they also creatively built and released tension rather than airing their dirty laundry in short, sharp, frenetic bursts. Additionally, many of these bands' vocalists were just as likely to deliver their lyrics with a whispered croon as they were a maniacal yelp. Another important influence on many of these bands was U.K. post-punk from the late '70s and early '80s; Gang of Four, Public Image Limited, Joy Division, and Wire played a significant role in many of the bands' musical growth. Some post-hardcore bands, like Fugazi and Quicksand, had roots in the beginnings of hardcore punk and were able to broaden their sound as they became more skilled musicians. Younger bands flowered into post-hardcore after cutting their teeth in high school punk bands. Chicago and Washington, D.C. were particularly fertile areas for this style, which has extended into the early 2000s.
It's not perfect, but they say it better than I could.

Keep in mind that post hardcore, while a genre of its own, still has elements of hardcore in it, so that is where the "frantic" element as you call it may come from.

A year ago, I would have said Thursday. I really liked War All the Time when it came out. Frankly now I find it boring. Occasionally I'll spin Full Collapse because it's solid.
But honestly, while the only songs I've heard off of Worship and Tribute are Ape Dos Mil and Cosmopolitan Bloodloss, I fucking love EYEWTKAS. While initially I tried getting into it because a girl I liked is into that album, I've found that theres a reason to that... the album is goddamn brilliant. I still listen to it at least every third day.
"I keep you jealously to myself."
"He would stay forever just to say he saw you leave,
And maybe things wouldn't be this way.
He would stay forever just to say he saw you on your knees.
I burn the lamp.
(When) I burn when I do, I do...
everything I do for you.
But he hates you, hates you.
And I guess it's nothing new for you."
Is there any denying how good this shit is? And, I enjoy Head Automatica, but they are nothing substantial. I think they appear to be saying more than they actually are, and ironically that also goes along with the gaudy sound they produce.
Where's CJ? She'd back me up, mos def.

Fugazi is post hardcore. And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of The dead have more indie elements than anything else.
This is true.
Although you have to remember that most bands meld so many different genres that it's hard to peg them as one.
Case in point: Fugazi (13 Songs era) - strictly post-hardcore...Fugazi (Argument era) - post-hardcore mixed with elements of indie rock
the same case can be made for the majority of modern bands, including Trail of Dead

By far Thursday is the best in my opinion and not to mention a bunch of really nice guys too. I see Tom from Thursday like 2 times every month because he's in a side-project called Rebel Alliance in Stamford, CT, and they play shows at my teen center pretty often.
If you want to check them out (Rebel Alliance) go to their Myspace (http://www.myspace.com/rebelalliance)

I'm a fan of both of those bands, but I'm a huge Thursday fan. Full Collapse never gets old for me. I like Worship and Tribute by Glassjaw, its a solid album, but I agree with what others said of it being a little experimental.
But I guess you could call Fugazi the granddaddy of both of them. I love 13 songs, such a good album. I love the easily hearable bass in the songs played in harmony often with the guitar it sounds awesome....although I'm just biased b/c im a bass singer :p

This shouldn't even be a fucking contest. Sure, Thursday is fun to listen to but Glassjaw is fucking Epic. Not to mention Daryl can sing very very well (sorry Rickley) and with a completely original style. The lyrical work on Worship and Tibute puts any other "post-hardcore" bands to shame. Sorry, but if you voted Thursday you need to appreciate talent better.

Example A (Glassjaw): "All my X's live with hexes.
This is why I hang
Myself with jealousy upon a fencepost half mast.
Fashion: war between
The guilty and the guilty and the guilty and the guilty
And the teen."
Example B: "Im not impressed I guess I'm not impressed
with which dialect marches best. Who goes to heaven in which order
when our children are baptised in mortar"
Am I missing something? I guess it's all personal opinion but you have to respect those lyrics.

Out of Glassjaw's and Thursday's four combined major releases, War All The Time is the worst.
Thursday. Although it would be a sin to catergorize Thrice, some people consider them post-hardcore so Thrice is the best in that category :)
I voted for glassjaw due to EYEWTKAS being better than every thursday album
