THE JULIANA THOERY - STUDIO DIARY 2005 - ENTRY #6 Wednesday, February 16 2005 – Studio City, California I'm here, in sunny Southern California. This is by far and away my favorite weather in America. It's almost always nice here. Sure, i brought the rain with me on the first couple days of mixing, but since then it has cleared up. Mixing is going great. There are only a few songs left to go and then we are finished. Today, we are working on a track that I am pretty certain everyone will dig. I'm excited about this record for many reasons. One thing that i'm excited about is that this thing does not really sound like much else. I think we have managed, more than ever before, to create our own sound. This record really sounds like The Juliana Theory. Sonically, this recording is unique too. It does not sound like our other records and it doesn't really sound like anything else that is out right now. This might be for the fact that it is basically a bass guitar solo from start to finish. Chad gets my vote as one of the best bassists in our 'scene.' For certain, he is the most underrated bassist i can think of. Everyone else's tracks are the tops as well. Chip's drum fills are creative. The 'Twins' wrote their best stuff ever on guitar too. Lyrically, i already told you all that i'm positive this is my best output in that department. And to top it all off, this record is actually exciting. We've finally captured raw, live, band performances. I guess the fourth time is a charm. This is probably the record we were supposed to make a few years ago. Sometimes things just take a while. So, last night was the Open Hand cd release party. It was a good show by a good band. They are certainly going to turn some heads on this tour we've got coming up. I've heard some complaints that the City of Champions line up is a weird one, but i disagree. We've put together a set of bands that are all doing their own thing and all do it well. Mixing musical styles... It's about time we all get together and forget what is 'right' and what is 'wrong' to put together on the same bill. You'll see what i mean soon enough. I can't wait to get out there and see all of you guys and gals and play these new tunes. Back to the control room i go. Sorry, no pics this time. I've got none on this computer. Peace, brett

I have a good feeling about this album, I'm guessing it still has a while before it comes out though.
