gah we waste so much time at school. i dont learn anything, or atleast anything ill remember the next day (or the next period for christs sake). i think in all my years of being a student, ive had 1 teacher i learned anything of academic value, and 4 of any moral value.
i asked my drama/journalism teacher if i could do an article on it, to see if it was just my imagination and she flat out told me it would be pointless bc its already been studied, and proven, that we waste 80% of the school day.
yeah sorry needed to vent about that.
[edit] i actually dont think going to school is a waste of time--i just want to be taught something. it makes me sad.

ya seriously. I agree that HS's in the US are a waste but you probably need a HS diploma to get into a good university...University in the US is beyond important this day and age...back in our parents' generation, a college diploma was good enough...but now...anything below a master's degree does not build a solid foundation for you (or a family which I presume you'd like to have some day)...
my advice to you...stop trying to fight the system...I learned that when I was way young (immigrant family so school is more important than anything)...but now that I'm older I see that we really have no choice (if we have actual goals in the future)...just stick with it and give it your all...

The problem is that when schools attempt to actually teach kids, they get complaints that their courses are too difficult. As a result the courses are “dumbed” down, and the smart kids are expected to learn on their own.
At least that has been my experience.

I actually got screwed over cause of that cause they dumbed down the regents exams here to make it easier to pass...but by doing that they also made it harder to get a perfect score...education is really fucked up right now in general.
I don't know, honestly. I think part of HS is learning on your own. The US system is pretty screwed up when it comes to learning, so I won't really go into that. I think that, until you get into the upperclassmen courses in college, it's near the same way. I end up just learning on my own, regardless.
I make average grades, but I know that's my own fault. *shrugs* But, what can you do, really?

I know serisouly. They took away HONORS courses at my school because of budget cuts and they say "now everyone is being taught at the honors level but we just dont call it honors" i dont feel as challenged as I did when there were honors courses.
I know what you mean. My high school has a college freshman level english course, and it's likely going to go away. We used to have AP Chemistry, too, but the budget cuts forced them to drop it a WEEK before the semester started.
Honestly, I think that there are double standards here. Really, instead of "No Child Left Behind", I believe it should be called "No Child Gets Ahead".
o.O
What the fuck is this?
I'm in school and yes my college does not require to have a HS deploma but i got it any way because you have to have something to fall back on. I'm still in HS and im thankfull i see this. School is not a waste of time. Your a waste of the schools money and time.
