Has anyone read this book (by Howard Zinn). It's by far one of the most educational things I have ever read. I've learned more about our history in the 100 pages I've read so far than I learned in my entire school career.

I really think it should be required reading in H.S.

I browsed through it one time at Borders. Very Interesting.

I have Voices of a peoples history by Zinn. It is absolutely brilliant. i love the letters form former slaves to their masters; and my favorite line in all of history comes from this book.

from the Cacique Hatuey; at the stake the cacique is told how he should repent to get to heaven by an asshole friar (or priest, whatever) and he says, "do all christians go to heaven." after the friar states, of course. hatuey responds, then i shall like to go to hell.

zinn is pretty good but he leaves out most anything positive from what i've read, but i've only read the 20th century by him (not the peoples history, just the 20th century)

About 5 pages into this book, actually it's been good from the first page. So far it's not the history lesson that I expected. Well, it is, but it's interesting... to say the least.

This is one of those books that I constantly tell myself I need to read and then forget about when I'm in a bookstore. One of these days I'll read it.

Amazing book, its one of my favorites.
Definitely a must read; it tells the entire story, not the watered down versions they taught us in school.

I've been working on this book for a long time. A LONG time. I love it, but it's a tough read.

It's a good book, but some people act like it somehow proves that the history being taught in high schools is a big lie, which isn't true. It is simply another side to history, a side that is studied much less.

I liked it, I guess I'm just confused by a lot of people I know who have read it and say it "totally changed their lives!" Lol.

It should change your views on a lot of things, though. It's better to know both sides of the story.

It is an interesting book but nothing really that great. I think parts of it should be taught in school, especially on American foriegn policy during the Cold War and the labor movement.

Why is it not that great?

There's another book with a similar title, I'll be going to see the author speak about it soon(as I haven't really looked into it yet). It's titled "A People's History of Poverty in America".
