blu-ray players

Worth it? I'm moving so I'm picking up some new stuff including a 60" DLP tv. I've got an upconverting dvd player, but for those of you with blu-ray players, is it a lot better looking? If it's barely noticable, I'm not going to bother, but if it's a lot better, than maybe. Also, what player is good (aside from PS3)? I wouldn't play the PS3, so I'm really just looking for a player

I have an upconverted DVD player and a blu-ray (courtesy of the Ps3) and it is a noticeable difference. The upconverted dvd's do look good and all, but the blu-ray looks way better. If you watch a ton of movies and don't mind paying the extra money for the blu-ray discs it's probably worth it.

anyone who really likes to watch movies and can afford a blu ray player should definitely get one.

I think I saw a Sony one for $250 at Best Buy, so they are starting to get reasonable. Even at $300 I don't think it's THAT insane anymore. I'll probably try and get a stand-alone (non Ps3) player over the holidays.

I have a standalone and it's beast. You'll never watch movies the same way again.

Do you buy all/most of your movies on Blu-Ray now? Since having the Ps3 I've mostly been buying all the big action movies in Blu-Ray but everything else on regular just to save some cash.

Strictly action/horror flicks. No reason to see like Knocked Up vag in HD or something like that. Upconverting does fine for regular movies. When the price comes down, I'll buy all BRD, definitely.
Basically what I was gonna plan on doing.
