I agree. Pete Rose is the hit king, you can not deny. He worked at what he got, and he deserves to be in the HOF. He's one of the greatest of all time.
Yes, it's too bad he had to be involved in this scandel, but it is unrelated to his accomplishments on the field. Guys like Gaylord Perry are in the HOF, and they admitted to doctoring balls, which affects how the game is played. Rose bet on baseball, and then lied about it. This does not affect the game, and should NOT affect his HOF status. He's one of the greats in my book

if barry bonds is more than likely going to get in in a few years, then pete rose should be allowed. he was a great player and a good manager. he deserves to be elected.

The only problem with him as a manager is he did gamble on the game, and he used inside information about players that he obtained as a manager. He had the luxory of calling up another manager and checking on the status of a closer or hitter, etc. Normal people don't have that option. He abused his power to make money, and that's not something I can tolerate.
BUT. I think based on his PLAYING days, he's a no doubt HOF

yeah i meant when he first started managing before he started the mass betting. but even so you make a good point.

I agree, I want to see him in, but I think he was gambling his entire coaching career, if not even part of his playing career. The man has a serious problem.
Another thing he's accused of is manipulating his managerial decisions to help his gambling. Such as, perhaps he would allow a team to get closer in the game by putting in a pitcher who gets killed by the team for an inning, thus jeopardizing the game for the players.

i say no, he's the one guy i'd be ok with them bending the rules for, but until they bend them for joe jackson too, i hope he's out.

We have plenty of people who have done things that were worse.. like there are killers and soon steriod users... yes i believe conseco and caminiti will make in to the HOF.

Also, being elected in as a player and manager are two different things. He SHOULD go in as a player and a player only.

It's simple he did the things that he deserved to get in weather he betted or not.

as a baseball player, yes. As a person, I'm not so sure about, the whole lieing for so many years situation has kinda made me indifferent to him. In all though, he deserves to be in.

I think he should if only for the fact that he was on the receiving end of Kane's tombstone piledriver on three separate occasions.

He kicked ass as a player, and there's no evidence of him doing steroids...I say fuck yes.
