Sigur Ros is perfect to listen to...
Beck - Modern Guilt
Anything by Radiohead
Almost any post-rock/anything ambient

Those are just a few suggestions that I highly recommend and actually listen to while studying.

Was going to say Sigur Ros, but that was already taken care of for me.

Moby - Ambient
Soundtracks to movies usually, as long as their instrumental and not a fuckin' war movie or something.

i normally listen to new albums when i study because i dont know the lyrics yet so ill just hear it as background music and can focus on studying

I usually do the opposite because with new songs I pay attention to the lyrics too much to concentrate.

Haha. Neither The Hush Sound nor Oreskaband could be considered modern rock.

For me it was mostly Kid A and Anathallo.

One killer inspirational soundtrack was "Pursuit of Happyness". Give that one a shot.

The Hush Sound
Oreskaband
Panic At The Disco (new)
The Morning Of

When I am at my office, it is all about Pandora radio set with Death Cab and Damien Rice. At home, City and Colour, Rogue Wave, The Postal Service, DCFC, Lydia, New Frontiers and in any setting John Butler Trio (his music just makes me happy regardless of if I am studying or at the gym).
