Uhm, I have to "sit in" at my job today, so here are my recommendations: (AND I WAS UNABLE GIVE YOU A REASON, BUT NOW I WILL:

The Appleseed Cast - I live ambient/spacey rock, these guys are the epitomoe of that. This defines artsy music. "Doors Leads To Questions" is probably my favorite song and if your looking for music to relax to, TAC will do that for you.

The Shins - Post punk indie rock? I don't know what the hell you call it besides amazing. Yeah, they had that song in Garden State but so what, that's not even their best album. (In my opinon) "Cutes To Narrow" fucking rules.

The Good Life - Like I said before, I'm a suck for "story telling" style of music writing, and Tim Kasher does it beautifully. "Album Of The Year" is probably my favorite .. album. I'm sure I wil get shot for that, but oh well.

Wilco - Because they are awesome. That's the only reason you should listen to them. Because they are awesome.

IRON & WINE (Please buy "Woman King" it will be "music genre changing" .. for you, get it? Instead of life changing.. it's "music genre changing.") - This is a little different from his previous releases but such an wonderful step foward for Sam Beam. Folkish type rock laced with soothing vocals. Not to mention his WIFES voice, she can sing.

Broken Social Scene "I'm Still Your F.ag" is an amazing song. - Ambient at times, BSS are one of my favorite bands. "Your Forgot It In People" is such a moving album. There isn't ONE song I dislike on the entire album.

A Perfect Kiss - www.myspace.com/aperfectkiss A local band from Ann. MD and let me tell you, this band WILL be signed by next year. Ambient/spacey rock.. again.. that covered an TAC song when I saw them live, they are worth checking out.

great justifications to why you recommend these bands. oh wait, nevermind, you didn't bother to do that.

if u dont like indie rock that is sometimes slow, sometimes folkish, then you will not like. that goes for goodlife, broken social, iron and wine, the shins and appleseed

i hate the shins though

It's a shame, because you have a great taste in music for a sixteen year old kid (I'll be interviewing Hot Cross soon) but there is no excuse for being a "hardass" on the internet. Grow up some.

yeah, that kind of came with the album so a lot of people have it, especially if they preordered it/ordered it shortly after its release/went to a show and bought it. but yeah, it's good.

* chutes too narrow i know you know that but someone else might call you on the typo so i thought i might as well.

give him a break? uh, I don't think I was asking for too much.

not to mention he continued to bash me about my age, when I said nothing personal. took things way too seriously.

Why would you ask at all? Why does it matter to you? I usually do write out definitions. Last week I did not, but the previous weeks I have.

I'm not going to bother anymore.

Too argumentative. Is it not common sense to support why the band is recommended (I would believe that is the purpose of this)?

I bet five bucks you'll give me a smart answer and I bet another ten that I could careless.

Done.

Achilles, Shane Hennessey, and Kelley Nicole have just about the best taste in music ever...and if you haven't listened to sufjan stevens, vetiver, joanna newsom, and animal collective by now, do it, but add the danielson famile, half handed cloud and the innocence mission to that assortment as well

That is true. I was quite pleased that they won a Grammy. Good to see them get such well-deserved prestige.
