Cavil at Rest (http://www.purevolume.com/cavilatrest)- I am in love with the songs they have already posted on Purevolume, and I am dying to hear more from this outstanding band. The vocals are lovely and the music is really moving. Definitely keep an eye out for these guys, they’ve got something special. And surprisingly, they are not from Seattle. :wink3:
Clair De Lune (http://www.deepelm.com/sum/438_sum.html)- Though Marionnettes was released last summer, no one seemed to pick up on this fantastic post-hardcore group. Their sound fits in among the Deep Elm roster, and is sometimes reminiscent of Desert City Soundtrack. The contrast between piano guided melody and raspy dueling vocals creates a truly impactful sound. Listen to “Machinegun Lipstick.”
Steel Train (http://www.purevolume.com/steeltrain)- You all know who this is, but their new stuff is pretty breathtaking. I think it’s really cool to have a band like this associated with our scene. Totally refreshing.
Bright Eyes (http://www.saddle-creek.com/bands/brighteyes/)- Recently got to see them and I was extremely impressed. I could never get wasted and play guitar like Connor can. I’m Wade Awake It’s Morning is one of the most elegantly beautiful albums I have ever heard. “Poison Oak,” might just bring you to tears.
Gatsby Gets the Green Light (http://www.purevolume.com/gatsbygetsthegreenlight)- I know what you’re thinking: “What? Another Gatsby?” Yes, though they have a much different sound than that other band that I’m obsessed with. This band’s demos might still need a little work, but all I’m saying is potential, definite potential.
Sleepwell (http://www.purevolume.com/sleepwell)- With new demos produced by Rob Freeman of HIPV, this is another young band with a bright future. The new songs remind me of Armor for Sleep.
*Thanks for checking out my recs! Please leave feedback.
P.S. I also recommend watching the Coneheads movie if you haven’t seen it in a while. It will make you laugh, especially if you’re high.
