Here's what I've been spinning this week:
The Decemberists (http://www.decemberists.com) - Picaresque - Absolutely amazing. You've probably already heard of these guys, but if not, think Belle & Sebastian meets Neutral Milk Hotel. I'll go out on a limb and say this is the best album they've released. Poppier, more powerful, bigger, just better. And that's saying a lot.
Shark Attack (http://www.mywarrecords.com/bandview.php?bndid=8) - Discography - Sadly, another great hardcore band that broke up way too soon. Luckily they left a stellar discography.
Antony and the Johnsons (http://www.antonyandthejohnsons.com/) - I Am A Bird Now - A gorgeous piano-led pop record. Some folk elements and some of the most beautiful harmonies you'll hear. If you needed more reason to check it out, Devendra Banhart sings on one song, and Lou Reed is on another.
Arvo Pärt (http://www.arvopart.info/) - My favorite 20th century minimalist composer, and arguably the greatest. "Spiegel im Spiegel" makes me want to cry everytime I hear it. If you see Alina or Arbos in a record store, pick it up. You won't regret it.
