The Kill Pride - How to Walk Through Fire
Record Label: None
Release Date: August 29, 2008

Who?

A quintet from Philadelphia who formed in 2004 and have indepdently released three discs since. The latest is How To Walk Through Fire, a hardcore offering comprised of four tracks best listened to at the highest volume possible.

How is it?

Honestly nothing too different than any other band that specializes in screaming harshly and singing angelically over metallic guitar riffs and jabbing drums. The band themselves admit that they were influenced by the early 2000's screamo scene and that sounds just about right. Any of these songs will remind you of a group like Hot Cross and while it would be nice to see them find their own unique sound, that isn't exactly a bad band to sound like either.

The opening track "Divine Lorraine" begins abruptly with harsh screaming that subsides once the chorus kicks in and clean melodic vocals begin predictably. The guitar riffs are awesome though: these guys can really shred. "Letters From The Vulture" begins with a serene instrumental that lasts about a minute before the brutal shouts kick in again. For the most part though, theKILLpride's latest release is nothing new but at the very least, the cover art is unique. Unless you don't feel the whole "screamo" scene is over-saturated in 2008, it's best to leave this off your iPod.

I don't get what you're saying.. You gave it a 76.. but tell us to leave it off our Ipods?

I think the last sentence is just worded wrong.

All I meant to write was that it's decent BUT if you feel that genre is over saturated, then it isn't worth being on your iPod. Sorry for the confusion and thanks for reading.
