basically, if we decided to have incremental taxes based upon one's accrued wealth, thus taxing the rich an equal share instead of flat rates at 90K, we could postpone the crisis for roughly 60 more years, based on today's dollar. however, the right wing won't allow it, and so privatization is the course of action. let's all pray to the gods above that they keep those options under close regulation when it does become privatized. i don't want people doing what they want with that cash in the market.

note that my last post is my only quip with the issue i cared to discuss. clearly the short term debt that will ensue is a big deal, but i figure we all agree it's unavoidable given the terms of how privatization would work, so it's a moot point for discussion.
