2/20 at The Downtown was without a doubt, the best As Tall As Lions show that I’ve ever been to. These guys manage to impress me more and more with every performance. They play live with raw passion and it’s not the kind of passion that you can find on any recording. ATAL graced us with a new song which easily lived up to my expectations or from the observed crowd response, everyone’s expectations. I’m hoping the next cd, which won’t be out for a little while, has every song as good as that one. Even with the heat from the lights and the height of the vocals, Dan still managed to project his voice better than ever. Cliff’s drumming and stage presence were spectacular as always. Not many drummers get into the music the way he does. Saen’s presence was incredible as well. With his melodic riffs and his leg stomping, it’s seemingly impossible to get into the music with them. And last but not least Julio who rocks the bass like no other. He definitely has great rhythm and does the band much justice. He completes the band as a whole. Once again, it was one Hell of a show. Keep up the great work and I’ll see you guys next time you’re home on L.I.
