This sweltering heat is no reprieve
For their restless hearts and souls
Whose spirits roam through dark caverns
Committing petty crimes
And when the world has had enough
It starts to tear apart the inseparable
The artist sees the world
As something waiting to be beautified
Through her beautiful eyes
She stares into the confines
Meant to keep something in
But nobody bothers to stare back at her
Nobody has yet to cast off
From the docks, the burning docks
That are crumbling beneath our feet
Mesquite scents mask remorse
Lines aren't meant to stay unsevered forever
So cut them, lift the anchor, let us float on
The scientist sees the world
As something waiting to be hypnotized
Through his cynical eyes
He looks outward through the bars and confines
Provided by his own head
Ignoring the beauty around him
For their restless hearts and souls
Whose spirits roam through dark caverns
Committing petty crimes
And when the world has had enough
It starts to tear apart the inseparable
The artist sees the world
As something waiting to be beautified
Through her beautiful eyes
She stares into the confines
Meant to keep something in
But nobody bothers to stare back at her
Nobody has yet to cast off
From the docks, the burning docks
That are crumbling beneath our feet
Mesquite scents mask remorse
Lines aren't meant to stay unsevered forever
So cut them, lift the anchor, let us float on
The scientist sees the world
