I agree with this. If you could figure out a way to give it to him without being like "I hugged this shit for 5 years so it would smell like me," then it won't be that weird. Maybe you could give the pillow some other meaning by decorating it somehow. Put post it notes inside the pillow case with insider jokes or meaningful things on them and let him find them on his own. He'll realize on his own that it smells like you. Which can be good or bad, depending on how dank you are.
