View Full Version : Why my trip to see Fall out boy was the worst night ever

I went to Swansea (about 70 miles away) where Fall out boy, spitalfield and my awesome compilation were playing. I got there and i was walking in with some friends who are 18 and they said i need to be with the people who ordered my ticket for me, so i had to wait for them while all my friends went in. The people who ordered my ticket are 17, as am i, but they are about 5 feet tall. So when we went to get in, the big fat bald bastard bouncer (illiteration right there) told us we weren't coming in without I.D. So we spent the night outside, in below freezing temperatures listening in to hear the bands from 9 until about 1 am.
To compound my horrible night, when talking to the drummer from Spitalfield, he told me that the get up kids were for sure breaking up after they release a live album. :headshake This made me feel sick.
However, i was allowed in AFTER the gig to get merch or whatever and the Spitalfield singer had heard my tales of woe and generously gave me a free t-shirt. I also met the rest of spitalfield and Patrick Stump. There was no real consolation for this horrible night though.

Spitalfield sound like some pretty damn nice people atleast. The Get Up Kids thing sucks, alot though.
i went to the london show, it was over 16 there
awesome gig, sorry u missed out dude! but hey u got to meet spitalfield and they were the best there! and a free t-shirt not to bad

If I drove that far to see a band and was denied, one of two things would happen:
1: If I didn't like that band that much I would just be pissed and go home.
2: If I really wanted to see that band and I REALLY liked them, I would go get a bat and take out the security guard. No joke.

You don't understand....I never get to see anyone because every band that comes here plays at HoB, which is 18+. If there was a show I thought I could get in and I was shot down, someone would pay for it.

And going in with a kid that's five foot is just a silly. I'm 5'3 so I always go with older looking dudes and I never tell them my age. "Are you 18?", "No I'm 19" hoho worked for me.
But least you got to meet the Spitalfield guys they sound cool.
Why should he get his money back if he wasn't allowed there in the first place?
Because he paid to see the bands play and he didn't get to see them, so money back?

that sucks. i guess i still dont understand the 18+ shows. but i wouldnt have even tried to get in if i didnt have a valid ID...
however, i do feel for you. regardless. ive had some shitty shows and they can really let you down when you get fucked over
I would feel more sorry for him if it wasn't for the fact I'm poor and couldn't afford to see them, and I would of just got an ID.
But he should have known really if it was an 18+ show. I think thats what Andy is getting at...

No offence, but I think even if you didn't hear the news about GUK there, you would've heard it somewhere else. This indeed does suck, they are an amazing band :(

But yeah, we did meet some cool people and get some stuff, so it wasn't SO bad; but the GUK news was just a huge kick in the testicles.
