As most of you know, Will of Cartel (www.cartelrocks.com) and Saen of As Tall As Lions (www.astallaslions.com) were thrown out of the last show on the "Lions, Sirens and Bears Tour" in MA the other night. You can read Will's side of the story in the replies. Although what happened was unfortunate, it's still a pretty entertaining read.

"So check this out. We played in worcester, ma last night and it’s probably the most problematic night on tour that has ever occurred for any touring band. This is how the events unfolded.
First….we start playing our set and after 2 songs we are surprised on stage by As Tall As Lions and The Receiving End of Sirens who bought us shots to take with them onstage. This was a problem since I (will) did not have my drinking wristband on and was ejected from the club after only being able to play 4 songs total. My apologies to the kids at the show. In accordance with my ejection Saen from As Tall As Lions was kicked out because he bought the shot. I was so drunk from the shot that it was a good thing they ejected me because I might have really caused some trouble. Let it be known that I’ve been more messed up on DayQuil than I was from the half shot that we took.
Second…..Saen couldn’t play the set for As Tall As Lions and since they are a 4 piece band it makes it kind of hard for them to play well as a 3 piece. So, dan starts bad mouthing the club onstage for kicking out their guitarist who didn’t know I didn’t have a drinking band on and then gets ejected himself after only playing 3 songs acoustically because he didn’t have a lead guitarist to support him.
Third….Nic, our guitarist, gets his guitar stolen. He’s had this guitar since he was in 8th grade so all of you long time musicians know his pain. It was a beautiful guitar….may it rest in peace in whoever’s hands happen to possess it right now…..those hands, however, might be broken sometime in the near future if we happen to find out who took it.
So, needless to say, it was an eventful night. The bands then made their way to the nearest Denny’s and had a farewell feast for the ages. We are really going to miss the bands we’ve been touring with for the last month. They are great guys and truly talented people. Please go give them a listen at purevolume and pick up The Receiving End of Sirens record when it comes out April 26th on Triple Crown Records. In the meantime get As Tall As Lions “Lafcadio”, also on Triple Crown. As spoken by Kevin Sanders, our drummer, who said it best last night, “You guys are really amazing musicians, but you are even better friends.” We love you guys and we’ll miss you dearly.
To all the kids who came out and supported the Lions, Sirens, and Bears Tour we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. It was the best tour to date and we wish all of you the best and hope that you come out and see us when we come back to your respective cities.
For now we will be meeting up with New Atlantic tomorrow night in Franklin, OH so we can’t wait to start that to get back home and write our record. Continue to stay tuned to the site for more awesome updates in the coming weeks. We love you all and hope to see you at the coming shows this week on the East Coast.
Peace,
Will"

Worcester is definitely a scuzzy city, but certainly not as bad as others in Mass. Actually, the only one I can think of is Springfield. Just looking at the people in Springfield, I was terrified. Their faces were dilapidated, as if they were falling off. It's probably from the stench of the dead bodies rotting in the decaying houses. Go Saux!

sweet to here there were tons of people at this show
new atlantic is amazing i just saw them here in iowa city the 22nd
ive never seen cartel yet but soon hopefully :)
sucks to hear this story about being kicked out of a club before the band played
i drove about 5 hours to a place out near chicago to see spitalfield for the 6th or 7th time and a couple other chicago bands and one dude from spitalfield got kicked out cuz his brother was arguing and cussing someone out and he jumped in to defend his brother getting kicked out
but it was funny in the end cuz bands hardly ever play that place anymore now

if they are a christian band...that doesnt mean they cant drink
well yea , but you wouldn't think a guy from a christian band would go out and get drunk at his show

well yea but you wouldn't think a guy from a christian band would get drunk and thrown out , kind of his show , not very good for the band or the militia group

Cartel is in no way a Christian band if I remember correctly. I talked to them once about it, and most of them are agnostic/atheists, so uh...yeah. On some of their myspace pages they list that they are atheists, and I love them even more for it.

what club is that in worcester? only club ive been there is the palladium.
punkgnome
02/28/05, 01:53 PM
it was... uhhh club marque or something like that. it seemed like some crappy place which factored in me not going. and on a side note, the palladium hasn't booked anything good in some time now. kind of a bummer since the last good show they booked that i saw there was brand new like a year ago.
