Mae (www.whatismae.com) - The Everglow- Wow. Wow. This CD is incredible. An epic. Listen to a new song titled "Anything" on their pureVOLUME.com (www.purevolume.com/mae) page.

Maida (http://www.purevolume.com/maida) - If you're into the harder thing... this band rules. It's about time they were signed and I'm happy Fiddler picked them up. I look forward to their new record.

Underminded (www.purevolume.com/underminded) - Sorry, I've recommended them before. I recently placed "Hail Unamerican" back into my discman and have been loving it just as much as a few months back.

-----Also, here's a bunch of random things I recommend (not necessarilly music related):

-Ascend Apparel (www.ascendapparel.com)--new Spring line is incredible...buy some shit
-Not stealing from The Junior Varsity's van
-Jared's Mom
-Oregon-- <3
-Shawshank Redemption (movie)
-The Usual Suspects (movie)
-Seven (movie)
-The Life Of David Gale (movie)
-Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind (movie)
-Garden State (movie)
-Sky Lopez
-Amber Michaels
-Scrabble tournaments with friends

--------------Weston Recommendations------------------------------------

Circa Survive (www.purevolume.com/circasurvive) - The Inuit Sessions EP - This is the ultimate driving/alone time music. I rocked it today going to/from Cedar City boarding. Can't wait for the full length.

Wester (http://www.purevolume.com/wester) - Danger Music - If you don't want to hurt/maim/kill/yell at anyone, then this is the music for you. If you do want to do all those things, go listen to Slipknot. Great pop punk from a great band.

Gratitude (www.purevolume.com/gratitude) - Gratitude - I have been in a great mood the last few days, and Jonah helps more than most.

Deana Carter - Did I Shave My Legs For This? - Hardcore Country from a Hardcore Bee-otch

---------------Chris' Recommendations-------------------------------------

The Punos (www.purevolume.com/punos) - These guys are a great unsigned band out of Goldsboro, NC. They pack a smooth diverse sound with a foundation for a solid future, well worth the listen. They also sent me candy.

Harbor Skyline (http://www.purevolume.com/harborskyline) - Oh man, these guys have a fresh metal sound without all the extra ozzfest drama, all in an original package. These guys are definitely a rare find check them outtt.

ALSO: If you think aliens are out to get you, so do I - that means you should def check out Unsolved UFO Mysteries (http://search.barnesandnoble.com/booksearch/isbnInquiry.asp?userid=kr4YY71B3E&isbn=0446609013&itm=1) by William J. Birnes, its hot as fireee.

Trust me, there's no rush. It's good, but it's hardly epic, it's a lot more bland than destination beautiful, not to mention it's a giant step down in production (yes, i've heard the retail.) That's just my personal opinion, but when everybody shits their pants and gushes so much about a new CD and it doesn't knock me flat, I tend to push back a little. That's what overhyping can do sometimes to me. Oh, and the new version of suspension is awful, they destroyed a great song.

Props on the UFO book I just checked that out and I ordered it from half.com for like 4 bucks. When I was younger I was really into that stuff and this book seems like a good read. I think one of the guys from Blink is into UFO's as well.

The production on it is WONDERFUL. The guitar tones are incredible and not a single thing is over or underproduced. The new "Suspensions" is less poppy than the older version and I think it sounds so much better this way. I also like the quick pre-choruses they added in the new version as well... really makes the transitions from verse to chorus ten times smoother. Also, I thought "Destination: Beautiful" was boring as hell and I'm so happy they've tightened up the song structure on this disc, because it sucked on the last. The choruses are also stronger and catchier than DB as well. Overall, I think the levels are near perfect, the drums sound incredible, the guitars (especially) sound flawless, and I think the vocal production really brings out the true beauty in Dave's voice, as opposed to the last album where they mixed him flat with way too much low end. The melodies instantly pull me in and make me want to listen over and over again...extremely addicting. Copeland's "In Motion" did the exact opposite to me... the first time I heard it it went right through me and I was still singing the words to a Kelly Clarkson song that I heard on the radio before I listened to the album. Nothing stuck with me at all on that disc and although his voice is incredible, his melodies lack substance and captivity. Something is missing.

I think the guitars sound pretty muddy, they barely stand out from the bass. The bass was so thick, clear, and DEEP in Destination Beautiful, and it's just....muck here. Dave's voice was much clearer in the earlier releases... "Someone Else's Arms", just listen to the first 30 seconds, the cymbols sound like complete ass, the levels are way wrong on them, they need to be brought out and more clear, I just don't think it sounds good. Mae is a band that I think really benefits from crystal clear production with super sharp everything, and they just don't have it on this CD. Not to say that it's poorly produced at all, I think it's very well done, there's just a few key things that grabbed my ear that I really didn't like. Ugh, it's like the cymbals and guitars can't be seperated in song in "This is the Countdown." I love Mae, I'm just still waiting for this to grow on me. And yeah, I hear you about Copeland, it did NOTHING for me the 1st time I heard it. But I loved the first CD, so I decided to try it again, then again...before I knew it, the melodies were stuck in my head and didn't leave. Yeah, this Mae is catchy as can be, but for me there's just something lacking....I don't know if it's just not dynamically varied enough, or what, but it's just not cutting it for me yet. I guess I just like it better when Mae is less structured and takes some more risks, this kind of stuff is just too same-old, same old for me, something that I've grown tired of.

In my opinion, the cymbals are about as clear as clear as they can get, they aren't even noticable unless you're trying to listen for them and they don't sorely stick out at all. Everything sounds so incredibly crisp on the retail version, especially when I'm listening in my car. The thing I hate about the unmastered/rough version was the lack of compression and presence on the guitar, it sounded sloppy. Also, the snare sounded like people clapping with absolutely no low end at all, and the cymbals sounded like shards of metal being slammed together... i was presently suprised with how much cleaner everything is on the finalized product.
