I loved 2004, but this year's version is so much better, wondering what other people thought.

the presentation on this game is awesome...i love hitting a solo shot and hearing the commentator say nice work on the solo jack makes me laugh everytime

Some of the major differences, they added a pitch/swing analysis replay thing which is cool and it highlights the ball yellow and green to show when the best time to swing was. The animations are much smoother in the batter's box and on the field. Guys can throw from thier knees and stuff now.
There is an Owner's mode beside the old Dynasty Mode and the Owner's mode is quite complicated there's all kind of finance stuff going on and I am still figuring it out.
The pitch meter has a little sliver in the middle of it which is if you hit it says "perfect" and you get the pitch exactly where you want it. Also, the new mini-games are awesome and if you complete a whole season you can play the mini-games in the preseason to boost your players stats.
And of course the best new thing is you can argue with the umpires. You choose how hard you want to argue and if you don't get tossed it usually gives your players a stat boost. Although if you argue balls and strikes you automatically get tossed.

Oh, and the hitter's eye, you can turn this feature on and the ball will flash a certain color as the pitcher releases it, giving you some idea of what it is. (white-fastball, red-breaking ball etc)

I enoy it greatly and it was only 30 bucks.... and I did buy it although I own 2004, and I would suggest you pick it up as well.

The Presentation in MLB2K5 blows MVP away. Every single thing about it. Frachise in MVP is deeper though. I enjoy them both.

After a call you choose it and press a button to amplify your intensity. If you time it right you will give your team a boost. The CPU will do it sometimes too.

This game is good times...5-5 with the mets...i think my franchise is going under...i wasted my money on advertising which i hear is a big mistake...this is the last year of mvp for a while...sega or whoever bought out the baseball liscense in response to EA buying the football liscense. :(

MVP is amazing and playing it only gets me more pumped for the baseball season. I'm the Indians right now with a record of 9-3. I'm curious to see how the 989 and ESPN games are, but I;d be surprised if they were anywhere close to as good as MVP, plus it's only $30.

i traded in a 2005 game at gamestop they had a deal when you trade in a 2005 ea sports game you can get mvp 2005 for 10 dollars so i got it for 10 i traded in my ncaa2005/top spin bundle which didnt work anymore but they dont test games so its there loss :animateds

I have both MLB 2K5 and MVP 2005 and let me just say that beside the control, 2K5 blows MVP away! The music in MVP annoys the hell out of me and they don't allow you to upload your own music for batter intros and homeruns and stuff like 2K5 does.

I do. I'm big on realism and want to upload all the Braves batters real songs. Besides, If I turn off the music in MVP I'll have to sit there and listen to their sorry ass attempt at play by play commentary. That's why I like 2k5 better, I get to have it all. Awesome commentary & my personal mp3's.

Well i picked up MVP 2005 and I must say i really enjoy the graphics and gameplay. They are quite weak in the annoncers booth but since EA just signed that deal with ESPN maybe like madden that will change in the feature. ESPN baseball is pretty good. Great presentation as espn always gives us but the game play is a little shabby like when you go to get a grounder it looks like he skips a step before he thorws it.

I bought them both. I was impressed with MVP 2005 until I got my hands on MLB2k5. There are certain aspects of both that I love. The game play and player models seem better on MLB2K5 but you can't play all the minor league games....and dammit I wanna be the West Tennessee Diamond Jaxx.. Some of the graphics in MVP are great but some of the player models are horrible. Nomar Garciaparra looked skinnier than me....and thats really bad. Seems like the places where the players arms and legs bend (elbows, wrists, knees) sometimes look like they are disconnected in places.

The pitching is pin point precision accuracy on MLB2K5...when you fuck up you know it right away too. The deal breaker for me was more than likely Joe Morgan, John Miller, and Karl Ravech on 2K5.

Being EA's last hurrah for baseball for 7 years they did put out the best of the line since it had changed to MVP from Triple Play.

All-Star is still the best way to play though, you will walk batters and the CPU will walk you if you're patient. I love this game, just got done with off-season with the Cubs and getting ready to start spring training, so damn fun signing people.

Owner mode doesn't seem amazing or anything, but the game's great because it's what they had last year without the stupid glitches. (The lefty glitch and the progression glitch in dynasty.)

Kinda pathetic that the best improvement is fixing mistakes that shouldn't have been there in the first place, but oh well. Awesome game.

The lefty glitch was fixed, new animations, even better overall gameplay, A teams added for more depth, spring training games and development.

I think PLENTY was added this year, now go play the game.

It gave me at least a little bit of hope that baseball gaming can sustain without MVP. They have a nice base, they have to eliminate the stupid glitches and build big time on what they have.

i just dont like the graphics. they seem a little underpar. plus in nba 2k5 that team chemistry and having a player talk to you every 5-10 games was a sweet addition but got annoying really fast.

Yeah the graphics in the screenshots look awful, but when you see it all in motion it looks better all together than MVP does, but MVP has much, much better animations. So graphically, MVP still wins. It's not a landslide like a lot of people think. 2k5's real pretty in motion.

I've learned that ratings aren't everything. Mueller's stats aren't that great as far as hitting, but his contact is in the mid 80's and I'm still batting .422 with him, 47 games into the season. He's my most consistent hitter other than Vladamir, so how can I bench him? :) Moises Alou is kinda slow in the outfield but it's not an issue too often because it's LF. His ratings are solid, mid 80's for power and contact, so his bat makes up for his glove. berkman is slow in center too, but he's got a good arm, and anything hit to right Vlad will eat up, best fielder in the game - strongest arm, too.

And yes, it fits in their budget, dumping Manny's $21 mill and Damon's $10 mill salary helped open up a lot of room. I've actually cut overall salary by about 8 mill or so with all those trades.

You have to buy the network adaptor, but I think these new slim PS2's come with a built in ethernet slot. I'm not sure. I bought the network adaptor back when it first came out just because I only had PS2 and GC, and I wanted to play online. I decided to fork out the cash for Xbox Live back last June, and I love it. Expensive, but it's worth it.

I've gotta pay 50 bucks in June to renew for another year though. That sucks. :headshake

That's the same thing I always say to people who bash on XBL and praise PS2O. Pretty much every game on Xbox is on Live, plus every game on Liveis voice compatible, and Live has so many more features than PS2O that it's a no contest. Mauer is a better catcher, and is younger. Soriano is a better hitter but would sacarfice his horrible defense to womack, and I would rather have mike young and texteria is the man at first. I'd trade away ortiz and someone and get texteria. Varitek and a pitcher could get Mauer. Womack and another decent hitter could get Soriano (all depending on cap room). I am the king of trades. I've pulled out some crazy trades.

your pitching staff is old. I'd try to get K-Rod from the Angels, maybe package wagner and wakefield and grab a young pitcher in return (sorry, i dont have faith in wagner or wakefield). I'd package Maddux and Lowe for a beast like Willis or Beckett. You have 6 starters anyway =P

no way. i play the games that matter, like in playoffs or something. mostly just simulate. would take too long to play ever game. plus 162-0 would be too obvious.

Catcher - Mauer
1st base - Texteria
2nd base - Castillo
3rd base - Wright
Shortstop - Upton
Leftfield - Cabrera
Centerfield - Crawford
Rightfield - Pena

Starting Pitchers - Harden, Willis, Beckett, Perez and have some unproven talent as my 5th starter.
Closer - K-Rod.

I hated k-rod last year that was because boston was playing him in the playoffs whenever boston doesnt play them i love the guy
