Wow, what a great tour. I went to the first date in Hoboken, NJ last night.
Forgive Durden played all new songs from Razia's Shadow. They did play "Life Is Looking Up" but I don't think "The Exit" was on the setlist. I was curious about how FD was going to play live, what with the departure of everyone-but-Thomas earlier this year: (I believe) there are four people on stage, including a new guy and girl who do some harmony and the guest spots, or at least so far as I can tell without having heard the album!
The singer of Dear and the Headlights said that he was sick, but I still enjoyed their set. I'm not very familiar with them, so I really have no idea on their setlist... sorry!
Steel Train's set was:
Firecracker
Touch Me Bad
Kill Monsters in the Rain
I Feel Weird
Dakota
Alone on the Sea
New Song: Soldier in the Army
Women I Belong To
School Is For Losers
New Song: Cooked Up A Plan

No, I didn't think to take any video of them, sorry! They sounded great though. The song that Max Bemis guests on has lyrics thrown in of "I'm the spider; crawl inside her." I love all of the throwbacks to the bands of the guests.
Someone in FD said that someone from Fueled by Ramen had said that the album would be available at shows starting on this coming Tuesday.

Yeah, I've heard the album, Max's song is my favorite. And from what I could tell, that's the only throwback lyric. Brendon Urie and Chris Conley also shine. AOTY definetely.

There's the "brownish spider" bit with Aaron Weiss' narration too.
and I was kidding about not having recordings from FD's set--I have sound but not video on my voice recorder that I forgot about. I'll upload those later today if you're interested in hearing them! (and just fyi I'm mad jealous that you've already heard the album)

Yeah, I'd love to hear those recordings. Maybe I could shed some light on which tracks/guests they are ;-)
And yeah the album is incredible, but there's not that long a wait. I heard pre-orders started shipping this weekend.

After first listen I wasn't sold. But with every listen I like it more and more. I think I understand it pretty much, although I'm a little confused what happens when he tears down the torches. That kind of confuses me.

I get a little confused there also, but I think he basically ruined what he created with his gift. O The Scientist gave him the gift to save the world (the lamps) and light it up. However, when the people would not comply with him, he turned to darkness, and Barayas convinced him to burn down his creation. Another question I have is Who is Sangara? Is he Adiakis' father? And is Adiakis a descendent of Arrhema, living on the dark side of the mountain? That's a lot of spoiler material.

I'm bumping up this topic, while I dont remember any of the setlists this show was the best show of my fucking life! Gosh damn all 3 bands killed it live. I'm not that familiar with Steel Train but holy shit they were so amazing live, definitly worth the hype. I highly recommend going even if your not really familiar with any of these bands. Seriously I can go on and on about how good all 3 were. So bottom line go see this fucking show.

I'm going to the Bowery date. Just saw FD on the 17th before this tour officially started. So excited to see them again.
When I saw FD on the 17th in State College, I remember them playing Life Is Looking Up, The Missing Piece, The Spider and the Lamps, and I believe Genesis (not 100% sure on Genesis - but I remember the intro to it being played). Don't remember the rest, but I know they didn't play The Exit.

UNDERRATED TOUR OF THE YEAR
I just saw this last night and every band was great. I so rarely see a consistent lineup, there's always a lull but not last night. An amazing night from beginning to end.
It was disappointing that [Insert guy who did replacement vocals in Forgive Durden's name here]'s mic volume was too low.
I only stuck around for Stealing Jane and Forgive Durden. I went alone so I didn't feel like sticking around. Anybody know who's performing with Dutton? He had the female keyboardist/vocalist, another keyboardist, the drummer, and one bass and one guitar player (not including him).
Are these guys permanent? Who are they
stayillogical, have you been to any other shows recently?
I disagree, there have been several consistent line ups, all this month.
The Status/The Matches/Valencia/Bayside (11/12) <sucked that shane threw out his voice and they didn't perform that night.
Us Against The Archers/Let's Get It/The Years Gone By/Punchline (11/16) <<best show in a while
Upcoming: Sing It Loud/FTSK/Hit The Lights (11/28)

You should have stayed the whole show. No harm in being alone. Mingle a little!
And I go to shows VERY often. I rarely see a line-up where I enjoy every single band including the opener. This was also the kind of tour where all the bands are good friends and there's a lot of collaborating going on, which is fun to watch.
I love UATA but I'm not a big fan of the others. I've seen The Years Gone By before though.
And I'm not a fan of ANY of the bands in your "upcoming." You forgot Cobra Starship. Eew. My upcoming shows I'm looking forward to are: 12/9 Manchester Orchestra w/ Kevin Devine at Harper's, 12/29 Bayside/Valencia/Penrose at Harper's, and 01/11 Anberlin w/ The Coming Weak at Lupo's.
ZeroGravity107
11/25/08, 01:30 PM
I probably should have. Oh well, still had fun
The Years Gone By were alright, probably the least exciting out of the four. I left Cobra out for a reason, lol.
Sing It Loud are incredibly catchy and they put on a decent show. I'm excited to see HTL again as well. I don't know much of Anberlin's previous stuff, but they I would enjoy seeing them. I'm not familiar with any of those bands except for Bayside/Valencia/Anberlin.
Honestly I haven't been to a show at Lupo's in years. It's been all The Living Room and out of state shows. I haven't been to The Palladium in years either. Where is Harpers? Is that in Austin? Brendan told my cousin and I that they'd be back in December with Bayside. My cousin might need a little convincing but I wouldn't mind seeing them again.
