Considered long overdue, multi-platinum artists Simple Plan and Good Charlotte are joining forces in what many consider the hottest concert this Spring. The two bands are planning a full-scale North American tour, which is tentatively scheduled to kick off May 3rd in Kansas City and expected to continue on through June 5th. The tour plans were hatched earlier this month when both bands performed at the MTV Asia Aid event in Thailand, which raised money to benefit Tsunami victims and families. The tour routing will be announced in the coming days along with specific city and venue information. Relient K is confirmed as the opening act on all the upcoming dates.

"We are extremely happy to hit the road with our friends in Good Charlotte," remarked Simple Plan drummer Chuck Comeau. "We know fans of both bands have been waiting for this tour to happen for a very long time. They talked about it at shows, they send emails and post everywhere on the web and now it's finally happening. It will be an amazing tour and we intend to enjoy every second of it. We cannot wait to get going!"

"I think this tour is going to be great for our fans," states Good Charlotte lead singer Joel Madden. "From start to finish it will have something for everyone and will be worth all these kids' hard earned money. That's what every tour should be, but sadly these days it's not, so us and Simple Plan are trying to give that to the kids."

This tour supports the platinum release The Chronicles of Life and Death by Good Charlotte, which features the singles "Predictable" and "I Just Wanna Live" (both of which landed in the top slot on MTV's TRL countdown) as well as the upcoming single "We Believe." For more on Good Charlotte log onto www.goodcharlotte.com.

Simple Plan will be touring in support of their recently released sophomore album Still Not Getting Any. The disc, which has sold over 1 million albums in a little over 4 months, features the Top-10 pop track "Welcome To My Life," and their current hit single "Shut Up" which went to #1 on MTV's daily countdown TRL. Already receiving accolades for the new album, Simple Plan were recently nominated for three Juno Awards including Album of the Year, Pop Album of the Year and Group of the Year. In addition, the band recently received a MTV TRL Award nomination for "Best Band That Actually Plays Instruments" and were nominated in the Viewers Choice Award category at the 2004 MTV Video Music Awards.

Simple Plan's debut album No Pads, No Helmets...Just Balls, was released on Lava Records in 2002 and sold over 2 million albums and spawned several top 10 hits including "I'd Do Anything," "Addicted" and "Perfect." For more up-to-date Simple Plan information log onto www.simpleplan.com.

the hottest concert this Spring.

I'm going to go out on a limb ( :animateds ) and say that Bane, Comeback Kid, With Honor, and Silent Drive on one tour is a hell of a lot better than Simple Plan and Good Charlotte with Relient K... just a thought though.

I'd agree here. Whatever insane amount of money Good Charlotte and Simple Plan charge for their tour, I'd pay triple to see Comeback Kid, Bane, and With Honor ( never listened to Silent Drive. )

You interview Comeback Kid in 4 days.

I'm really jealous.

I like how joel uses the word kids, when his talking about how it would be great that there hard earned money would be going to good use. Cause thats all theres going to be, a much of 12 years olds that love his music, what an accomplishment.

03/02/05, 03:10 PM
Why Relient K, why??? I thought with the new album they would try to get away from their teeny bopper fan base and gain a little bit of credibility. They've been my favorite band for years but even I am appalled at this decision. They can do so much better than this.

Dob
03/02/05, 03:40 PM
i jus think its a good thing relient k got on this, becuase now they will have so much more fan base. but it sucks because that fan base will be teen girls who are fucking dumb

poor relient k. poor parents who have to take their kids to this concert.

Wurd.

Aren't Relient K's lyrics a tad above the head of the average Good Charlotte/Simple Plan fan?

Its not as clever and funny when it has to be explained.

03/02/05, 04:05 PM
I'm so psyched for date announcements. The 12-year olds have moved on to My Chemical Romance, and Taking Back Sunday, by the way. But a bands fan base is no reason to hate them. I still adore My Chemical Romance. I've always despised Taking Back Sunday.

03/02/05, 04:33 PM
Come on, you all are the same kids that will be at the Good Charlotte show, you're just a few years older and moved on to bands that you think will make you more accepted with the tight pants, myspace-haircut crowd.

rewindthistime
03/02/05, 04:51 PM
but if you really think about it, whomever came up with this tour is a genious. it will make insane amounts of money, esp since the bands' fanbases (or their parents) will be more than willing to shell out the cash

and i'm not gonna lie, good charlotte's self titled cd is still really good, even if their new stuff isn't.

The biggest winner in all of this? Relient K, who FINALLY get on a national tour and get to show what they can do. Between landing supporting slot on this tour (hate it if you must, but they're going to play bigger shows than they ever have and are going to blow up) and mainstaging Warped all summer, RK is going to have a very good 2005.

preface: i like relient k

let's take a look at some relient k lyrics:

"And now I'm sunny with a High
of 75
Since You took my heavy heart
And made it light"

"He's a guy that you should feel sorry for
He had the world but he thought that he wanted more
I owe it all to the mistake that he made back then
I owe it all to my girl's ex-boyfriend"

cmon now...

Hey dipshit, the word is "genius".

70x7
03/02/05, 07:40 PM
It's not that genius, it's more common sense. I mean, who couldn't have come up with a tour with Good Charlotte and Simple Plan. All some guy who was booking Matchbox 20 last year has to do is go to a roller skating rink or ice cream parlor and ask the patrons who they want to see on tour together.

i wish hulk hogan, mr.t and he-man and the other bushgame pals would destroy good charlotte and simple plan and just let the k play a full set, you might have to throw some powdered doughnuts and meat into the crowd to keep all the chunky kids interested but atleast theyll hear relient ke

gosh people swear that Relient K is so much different from Simple Plan and Good Charlotte.
The only difference is they have more scene credability for not being as big and whored out on MTV.

i went to shows before I was 18....no bands I really want to admit (besides redman and method man as openers), but then again Im not bashing this tour either.

Dude this is the greatest news ever.......wanna know why. Its because there are 2 gay bands with gay people in them with stupid 14 year old girls in the audience, what would be cool is if someone ran on stage with Molotov Cocktails and threw them on the 2 bands killing them then throw them into the crowd and kill the 14 year old preppy girls. Too bad no one has the balls to do it :(
