Simspson Season 11 Dvd *shitty* Box Set

I'm not sure how relevant this is to anyone else, but being a TV-show on DVD collector and a big fan of the simpsons (earily years at least) I thought I had to comment on how shitty the new box set is. First I'll say I was no fan of the "HEADS," it was neat idea when first proposed but the end product was cheap, flimsy, and didn't stand without help. They also took up a ridiculous amount of space on one's self. But that mess was corrected fast (the mail in Homer case is probably my favorite of the whole series), and fans were given the option of buying a traditional set or the special edition heads.

But then there's season 11. This site, which also starts the down hill run for the Simpsons as a show, is one of the worst DVD box collections I've ever seen. The "HEAD" isn't a stand alone case anymore, but a cheap glued on cover. But that's not the worst part. The box set itself (which is no different from the glued on "HEAD" cover) doesn't contain ThinPaks or digipack, but instead a cheap cardboard accordion styled foldout where the discs are forced inside along the seems against rough paper edges that will, upon first removal, destroy (if I can be that dramatic) the discs as you pull them out. And the excuse that's being passed around by Fox for this joke of a release????? Is that its more environmentally friendly. As if that wasn't a bullshit answer to begin with, I mean the cheap plastic head and slip case will in all honesty be trashed upon opening merely adding to the waste. Fox basically went all cheap on one of its best sellers and is now trying to make dopey excuses to justify it. Hopefully enough people will notice this before their purchase, and go with other alternatives, so that maybe Fox will correct (as they've done previously) this pathetic release.

Its clearly a insult to collectors/fans, and given that each set gets weaker and weaker, in quality of episodes, from the point on. If Fox doesn't respond fast they may turn-off their "base" of buyers.

I never liked the heads from the beginning. That's why I always bought the alternate version (even with Season 6 when it started, I ordered the standard case online).
But this just sucks.

All the discs are stacked on top of each other. In other words to watch say disc 5 you have to pull out the other four, and their is no protection between discs to avoid what is the worst kind of scratches "swirls".

This is what Sony is now putting out for it's less popular complete series, but you know they will eventually start transitioning it into their more popular releases.

From what I've read the cause of this joke is, as many have suspected, 'environmentally' motivated. Matt has been attempting to make all his upcoming releases, starting with the Futurama 'movies', carbon neutral. Which I guess is the excuse their giving to explain this shitty cheap fan unfriendly box set, although the truth probably has more to do with cost and profits. The big green dollar.

Of course the rational thing to do, and that's assuming there is any rationale with these people, is to offer two different sets. One for the people who see a value in a carbon neutral disc destroying cardboard package and one for those that want a normal non-agenda box set. Hopefully poor sales will make Fox correct their mistake, even though these aren't the strongest epsiodes, I'd like to be able to complete the series.

The boxes are made of cardboard (and like I said can't be put in with all my other movies) and the discs slip into a little slit which they EASILY slid out of. Bullshit. Luckily I love Futurama enough to keep buying them.

Like you, I'm a fan, so I really wanted to get the new simpson's season, hell its been a year since the last release, but with a collection this poorly made I just can't do it. I have this very thin hope that if enough people ignore the release they will correct it. But I doubt it.

I didn't read to see if anyone else brought it up, but by "environmentally friendly", they don't mean that you can use it for compost. What they mean is that the process by which it is made creates less pollution/effluent than the plastic alternative.

I got this over the weekend and was like what the fuck? The discs are a bitch to get out haha
