What is the Weebster bumpin through the ol' speakers this week? Let's find out, shall we?

Callow (http://www.purevolume.com/callow) - I know somebody who might be pissed or excited that I recommended this band, but I finally checked them out about 2 days ago, and honestly I'm so impressed. Scott has an incredible voice and I'd really like to hear more stuff from them in the future. Go to their purevolume site (click the name) and download their 3 songs. Super chill acoustic indie music that's very much vocal driven with solid instrumentation.

Umbrellas (www.umbrellasmusic.com) - I love this stuff. It's so chill and catchy. I've had "The City Lights" on repeat all week.

Tourmaline (http://purevolume.com/tourmaline) - Wow, guys. If you haven't heard "April O' Neal" yet, then you need to head to their purevolume site and listen to the catchiest song ever. These guys just signed to No Milk Records, and their full length should come out in time to be the perfect summer album. These guys are the next Motion City Soundtrack, but with stronger vocals.

At The Drive-In - Would everybody please put down their pop-punk CDs that they think are "sooooo innovative and different" (cough, Academy Is, cough) and listen to something that IS? ATDI is so very unique, and the vocals are bizzare, the lyrics incomprehensible, but the music sublime. Heh.

Also, go see the Circa Survive/Bear vs Shark/Gatsby's American Dream Tour, it's awesome.

Holy crap Scott, I am half pissed and half excited. But Callow rules, I heard they kind of broke up though and are working on a different band with the same guys. And I love the ATDI rec because I listened to them all last night. And if you want the entire Callow ep go here http://www.wsu.edu/~jcozens/callow/callowcdpage.html.

I like the academy is, but the only thing that really bugs me about them is a real good majority of their lyrics are about making it big and the industry. It just kinda gets repetitive after a while, and personally, I'm going to listen to a band whose lyrics I can relate to over songs that I cant.

I still listen to relationship of command almost every single day. It's one of my favorite albums of all time.

I don't quite understand the Academy Is trash talk though. They're just fun to listen to, and catchy, and a good album to put on with friends. I don't think there's really anyone out there who thinks it's innovative. Not by any stretch.

Sometimes it's fun to enjoy things that are generic, just because they are a good time.

I enjoy a lot of generic bands, and I wasn't trash talking Academy Is in the least, I'm just saying that people tend to have closed minds and think that The Academy Is... is like the most innovative pop-punk band ever, lyrically and musically. I have heard people say that or something to that extent. While I don't really like them, that wasn't the point of the comment - I was just challenging people to really push themselves to listen to something truly unique.
