Death Cab for Cutie (http://www.purevolume.com/deathcabforcutie)- A band that everyone is probably familiar with, but their new live John Byrd EP reminded me how great they are, and I am so excited for their forthcoming release.

The Anniversary (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00005Y227/qid=1110139188/sr=2-1/ref=pd_bbs_b_2_1/103-6628005-1684653)- This is one band that I wish had never broken up. They were excellent musicians with a really groovy sound. Definitely give them a shot. Suggested listening: “Sweet Marie.” This song will make you fall for them. I just wish they could have made another record. :(

The Gloria Record (http://www.epitonic.com/artists/thegloriarecord.html)- Has anyone ever made more beautiful and tranquil music? (I’m sure the answer is yes... but you get the point.) Never hurts to retrace your emo roots.

Arcade Fire (http://www.purevolume.com/arcadefire)- In the words of Triple H, they are just “that damn good.” Funeral is a triumph. Did you ever listen to a record and just feel thankful that it was made? That is how I feel about Funeral.

I also recommend the artwork of Todd Slater (http://www.gigposters.com/designers.php?designer=20217).

Great recs. The Death Cab Ep is great and i've started listening to the Funeral a few weeks ago. It took some time to get used to for me because i'm a loser and only listen to pop punk. But it's really starting to grow on me.

Thanks Nate. Funeral took a while for me too, I think it's just one of those albums.

love the arcade fire and the death cab, and any band with ties to mineral must be awesome. but the anniversary, and most specifically, sweet marie? that song was my first introduction to them, and it's basically the only song on that vagrant compilation i skip. D in Detroit isn't a bad song though.

Ahh c'mon man, Sweet Marie is a great song. I guess it doesn't fit among the Vagrant roster, but The Anniversary was some excellent indie. How could you skip that song? It's so catchy and chill.

nice pick with the anniversary but i'd have to go with "designing for a nervous break down" rather than "your majesty" sweet marie is a good song but "dfanb" has more good songs
