Which Oscar-winner might direct? Seriously.
March 07, 2005 - IGN FilmForce has learned that none other than Oscar-winner Quentin Tarantino is in final negotiations to write and direct the Ultimate Jason Voorhees Movie, an all new Friday the 13th for New Line.

While the rumor mill had long suggested that the next movie might be Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash, that project never came together for a number of reasons.

Fans will instead be treated to the Ultimate Jason Voorhees Movie. The project will be a co-venture between New Line and Paramount Pictures. It is expected to be a "quickie" that could get underway as early as this year!

Tarantino's production company, A Band Apart, referred us to the William Morris Agency. A rep at WMA would only advise us that Tarantino has "not yet" been offered the job while refusing to elaborate any further.

If there's any (ultra-violent) filmmaker who could make Jason cool and scary again, it'd be the man who resurrected Travolta. I just wonder if the movie will be retitled Kill Jason?

No matter how cheesy the Jason movies are I'll always be a fan. I've always preferred him over Freddy and Michael Myers. Freddy VS Jason was a little weak. When the fuck did Jason become afraid of water and Freddy afraid of fire? Sure it makes sense, but neither one of those phased either one of them in their movies. I liked the zombie Jason that fucking wasn't phased by anything...not the pussy one that was in Freddy VS Jason. Anyway, I'm also a pretty big Tarantino fan. It could really go either way. Tarantino could breathe new life into the Jason series or it could seriously sink his reputation. I look forward to the movie though even if Tarantino isn't attached.

It had some good moments. It was far better than Jason X. The only good part of Jason X was the part when he's in the virtual reality version of Crystal Lake and he's beating those two girls in sleeping bags against a tree. I was crying from laughing so hard from that. There are far worse movies out there than Freddy VS Jason. Vertical Limit was pretty horrible...

Im a huge fan of horror movies in general, including the Firday the 13th series no matter how cheesy they may be. Im also a big QT fan so this is some really crazy news! I think it's really cool and if anyone can make another good addition to Friday the 13th its him. QT understands horror movies and wouldn't deliver us some chopped to shit PG13 piece of shit. I really hope he tackles this.

Yes but he wrote and QT is a control freak. He probably had more say in direction then you think. He originally was going to write it, but wanted to focus more on his acting. He probably still told Robert Rodriguez what to do alot.
