Here's the first one:

Original: The Cars - My Bestfriend's Girl

"anyone think we ripped off thursday "

"THIS DOESNT GO OUT TO ANYONE THAT HAS BEEN SUPPORTING US.. WE CAN'T THANK YOU ENOUGH... WE LOVE U...... KISSES

There has been some talk about us ripping off a thursday song. IT IS ONE 10 SECOND PART OUT OF OUR ENTIRE CD THAT SOUNDS REMOTELY CLOSE TO A THURSDAY SONG... GET OVER IT...

HERES THE FACTS: ACOP uses this 4 bar cycle of a root(D), 6th(C), root, 6th, 4th(G) (relation to of D major) as an introduction with 8th subdivision on the G turnaround chord. Even though the songs are actually in the same key Thursday use is the chorus with 16th note subdivisions and also every other cycle is an added turnaround note to act as a turnaround with i won't bother to figure out but is probably another 6th to add tension going into to root to resolve.

to defend even more: many songs have the same chord structure but with different melodies. the harmonies do not make a song a song is defined by a melody. infinite harmonies can be substituted for any song. this is very common in the jazz world in which one harmony structure can be the chords to 10 diffent melodies.

and come on people unless these people are the next J.S. Bach redefining harmony with every song everybody is going to be the same (even Bach got criticism about sounding to much like the people before him). everything has been done before. i'm pretty sure i can find plenty of Thurday songs with the standard punk root, 6th, 5th 4 bar cycle. if you want something truly original find a 14th century Gregorian Monk and listen to that."

Here are the moronic responses from their fans:

im pretty sure a few of those words were made up. its in the same key, its also the same chords in the same order.

cross out the eyes (only the root notes cause im lazy)
D-0 (0) (0) 8 8 8 8 0 (0) (0) 8 8 8 8 10 10 10 10 10 10 10
loose lips sink shits, i mean, ships:
D- 0 0 0 88 88 0 0 0 88 88 10101010101010

if anyone can tab it better thatd be great, but im pretty sure thats exact. (all spaces etc. are ment to be there)

SUM 41 PIECES ...ripped off COLDPLAY - THE SCIENTIST
I actually downloaded the mashup like 10 minutes ago and saw this thread thining it was about that, but noones even mentioned it!...

Sum 41's "Pieces" (2004) is a verse for verse, chorus for chorus, bridge for bridge, and break for break copy of Coldplay's "The Scientist" (2002). (Words and vocal melodies are different, for what that's worth.)

if you wanna go into brand new, i can certainly go into some depth about brand new, tbs and straylight, and the MANY songs that are all related and have similar parts or the same lines, or make reference to eachother, but I would hardly say soco.a.lime & me vs. maradona are even close to being the same

I used to use songmeanings.net, when someone would mention a band I would go there to see which songs had the most comments and I'd download those to sample the badn cuz they were likely the best ones, I i'd just type in the band in kazaa/limewire / whatever it was at the time and get the 4 or 5 most popular songs

think its cu of live journal, i always write super long entries, then the next day its way to long to bother reading and I don't even know how I wrote so much, so I'e started writing shorter things that are more specific to prevent myself from rambling... which doesn't really seem to be the case... now my rambling just takes up more space..haha, but at least its easier to respond to each statement seperately
