Hi,
This is Jon Westenberg.
I am a Sydney based Public Relations professional, and have worked in the PR industry for some time. I've also been a member here for.....four or five years now.
As a recording artist as well however, I have become increasingly aware of the problems facing many bands and singers in the modern internet marketplace.
Basically, the internet has become one of the most important methods of promotion in the modern music industry. At the same time however, it has also become inundated with a million and one myspace pages, "professional myspace promoters" and so on, meaning it is increasingly difficult to gain any sort of attention.

Additionally, the costs of getting publicity on the internet are rising to a point far beyond most young musicians.

In view of this, and in conjunction with several other members of the Aussie music industry, I am launching a new company, Queensbridge Digital (named after my first band).

The company will be purely digital, with no locale centric headquarters.
Queensbridge Digital will:

1. Provide a quality and reliable YET AFFORDABLE digital public relations service, enabling clients to access and communicate with a digital fanbase over a variety of digital communications tools; Twitter, Tumblr, Myspace, Facebook, Youtube, Bebo, and many other social networking and media sites.

2. Create affordable digital press kits and submit them to a mailing list we can develop with our clients.

3. Utilise in house design and consulting to ensure that the client's image is one of professionalism, while at the same time, keeping the costs down.

Now I know many of us have had to deal in the past with fifteen year old "publicity agents" who run supposed "street teams". The internet as a music tool has been charecterised by the antics of fifteen minute celebrities and flavour of the month dance pop bands.

We'd like to give young bands who present quality music a chance to be heard in the online waterfall. We believe that with a tenth of the budget of a major label, we can gain massive exposure for our clients.

We intend to work not on standard rates but on fees negotiated with our clients according to what they can afford. The point is not to squeeze petrol money out of touring bands to buy ourselves Armani. Thats what day jobs are for!
