The Seattle Weekly have posted an interesting article (http://www.seattleweekly.com/features/0508/050223_music_changes.php) that discusses record label Sup Pop (www.subpop.com)'s relationship with the vinyl world among other Seattle music info. Interestly enough, one in every 20 records purchased last week in the United States was a Sub Pop release.

i like how Seattle Weekly is ready to declare the CD dead...I am buying more CD's then ever these days because prices have come down and It is easier for smaller bands to produce their own music and press it, with out the help of a label and i still still put the CD on my ipod.
i have only bought music from itunes a couple times.
on top of that, Ipods are only compatable with itune and not napster or rhapsody and that does not look like it is going to change anytime soon.
also, how big is vinyl around the country? i know seattle has to be different and i do not think that people will revert back to records instead of cd's

"CDs were easy to tote around and store and maintain, but they also sounded like crap—the sound was too cold and compressed, somehow. Gone, too, was all the cool album artwork."

this lady is an idiot, I rarely download music or listen to it on record because I want CD quality.
Seattle is Bullshit.

What are bands going to sell at their shows? coupons to i tunes or pepsi caps for free downloads?

Sub Pop can do that (sell 1 in 20) because the music they release is so broad in rock, from Nirvana to the Shins to Sunny Day Real Estate, etc.
