I did a test last week to see if I had some kind of learning disability. This all stemmed from my wanting to see whether or not I had ADD, but the woman at my school can't legally diagnose that, so she gave me this test.
Anyway, I did it, did not fall outside of the low end of the normal range for anything, in fact coming in the 95th percentile for my reading and the 97th for my spelling and the woman decides that I should get extra times in exams.
So, basically, I get an extra 25% of time in my exams because I a) was a little slow at saying the names of colors on swatches really quickly and b) had trouble phonetically saying words that don't actually exist. I tried to spell them properly and got marked down for it.
Either way, I was still within the normal range for both. Silly system, eh?
So, who amongst you have a real learning disability?
wut u sayn i cant undarstent.

Anyway, I student teach at an elementary school and this kid Christian got removed from the classroom into a "special class", which struck me as sort of weird since I've always told his teacher that he reads words backwards. I think the poor kid is just dyslexic but since all the seasoned teachers no better than the silly student teacher, no one's listening.

I got some form of ADD. I don't take amphetamine based meds for it though and I don't have to worry about time for tests (since most of it is papers) except for the GRE tomorrow!

Don't know if this is a learning difficulty or not, but I recently found out I may have a form of Anti-Social Personality disorder (also known as Psychopathy)
It doesn't mean I'm going to kill somone.
I was randomly chosen as one of a group of students who were observed over a week within school by professionals. The interviewed me, watched me and talked to my friends, enemies and associates. They then contacted my teacher, proclaiming I had produced some 'ineteresting' results. I get called into his office, he explains everything, then hands me the report, showing me the checklist. I found something similar to the test results I recieved on Wikipedia.
Basically, It looked kinda like this:
Glibness / superficial charm [Y]
Grandiose sense of self-worth [Y]
Pathological lying [Y]
Cunning / manipulative [Y]
Lack of remorse or guilt [Y]
Shallow [Y]
Callous / lack of empathy [Y]
Failure to accept responsibility for own actions [Y]
Promiscuous sexual behavior [Y]
Need for stimulation / proneness to boredom [Y]
Parasitic lifestyle [N]
Poor behavioral control [N]
Lack of realistic, long-term goals [N]
Impulsivity [Y]
Irresponsibility [Y]
Juvenile delinquency [N]
Early behavior problems [N]
Revocation of conditional release [N/A]So yeah, 70% chance I've got it, I guess.

i was diagnosed with ADD and some learning disabilities as well. Most people with learning disabilities are quite intelligent (so it's no wonder you're a great reader/speller, I am as well- even won some spelling bees in elementary school, lol). I was also given that extra time on tests which I thought was kind of bullshit and never took advantage of it. I have problems with spacial reasoning or something like that. Basically it means that I suck suck suck at math (especially geometry) and can't hang a picture straight to save my life. *shrug* When I was in school, I was prescribed ritalin which helped me quite a bit with studying. I also had to go to a special tutor to help me learn how to study differently. I learn better with a combination of seeing the material and hearing it at the same time, so i used to record my class notes and the act of saying them and reading them and then listening back to the material really helped a lot with memorization. I only did that in high school because i went to a college that was for non-traditional learners (extremely small classes, no lectures, no multiple choice tests, just writing essays and discussion).
Phew. Sorry for writing a book. :)

I've been convinced I have ADD for years ever since I was doing a report for science class and came across a description in a book that sounded exactly like me. when I was younger, I would have to sit at the kitchen table from the time I came home after school until after dinner even before I'd get my homework done.
when I told my parents I suspected I had ADD, they said they thought I probably did too. when they took me to our douchebag pediatrician, he said that if I'd gotten straight A's in middle school, it was pretty much impossible for me to have ADD and that I was clearly just lazy. he then told my parents it was really expensive to get tested for ADD which was about when they decided I didn't have it. so I've never gotten tested.
I know I'm smart (smarter than a lot of my friends) but I'm like the worst student ever. reading textbooks is nearly impossible for me and it if I do an assignment it takes me a ridiculous amount of time to complete it, if I complete it, and getting started is usually the hardest part. even this, focusing on writing one post, is pretty difficult for me.

oh, also my parents took me to Sylvan Learning Center once to learn study skills and stuff and it was complete crap.

i get numbers mixed up all of the time. in middle school i would miss a lot of questions on math tests because of "stupid mistakes" but those mistakes would be because i would read the numbers backwards. when i worked as a cashier, i would give incorrect change all of the time. however, i'm sure the main reason for this is because i don't pay attention, but it's very aggravating.

No way. People with mood disorders own those with learning disorders.

is it weird that i feel strange being called by my real name on this board? i like the anonymity of a screenname.
it's probably just part of one of my disorders rearing it's head.
