What do you think of Saves the Day's In Reverie? I know it received a majority of negative feedback when it was released, but i really happen to love the album and im just curious what everyone here thinks.

Yay.

Compared to the rest of STD's discography, it ain't that great.

Compared to the rest of the crap out there from other bands, it's fantastic.

Tragically...this album was simultaneously released 2 years too early, and 2 years too late. It was 2 years too early because at the time, the genre and the scene just wasn't ready for that type of deviation. Everyone was too enthralled by TBS and Brand New and In Reverie was the last thing we were hoping Saves the Day would do...we all wanted Stay What You Are part 2, or even a return to TBC.

And it was 2 years too late because, unfortunately, even though the guy is probably the single biggest reason I ever starting writing music, Stay What You Are was the best collection of songs (lyricly) Chris ever wrote. Something happened after that record and he lost like a half step from his game. Every time I hear that line about a "gaggle of geese" I shake my head and wonder where that half step went.

All that said it's still a cool record...it's saves the day

I absolutely despise this record. I've tried to get into this record so many times and with each listen it just makes me cringe while listening to it. Chris's vocals really irritate me on this as well and it's weird because saves the day is one of my favorite bands. i feel like that's why i don't like under the boards much since it has an in reverie vibe to it.

I don't get why everyone does hate on this record. I personally love his voice on that CD and I think the whole CD is golden.

lol

a lot of people would argue with you there

to be a 'true fan' you dont' have to like every release by that band.

Ok fine, that maybe be a little harsh haha. But I just love this band so much, it makes me mad when someone says they love them, but they only like certain things by them.

I'm a huge Saves The Day fan since a couple months after Can't Slow Down was released. I love their entire discography and In Reverie is my favorite album of all time. It was the last thing most people wanted from them at the time and it was EXACTLY what I wanted. As i got older and my musical tastes evolved, I felt like they were one band that kept changing with me and that was something I really thought was awesome.

HUGE YAY!

But I understand why people would say nay and I respect their opinion.

I think you and I have talked about thia before. I'm really surprised more people don't view this as their best work. I'm also not surprised that it's someone's favorite album, it's excellent all the way around.

It's the last great Saves the Day album, though different from Stay What You Are, which is different from Through With Being Cool.
