It seems a bunch of people have received their pre-orders. So? What's everyone think?

Yes, I've seen it on people's last.fms. It's only a matter of time before the whole internet has it.

And the album is streaming in it's entirety on forgivedurden.com
And anyone who has gotten their pre-orders, can they up pics of the script/illustrations? I'm really curious to see what they look like.

This album is absolutely incredible. It epitomizes ambition and creativity. This prescence of the guest vocalists were the complete obvious of In Defense of the Genre: guests made IDOTG a disorganized mess, while Razia's Shadow's vocalists made the record flow and mesh cohesively.
AOTY 2008.

i only get clips?
I got it. Brilliant. AOTY.
I got the limited edish, nothing special. The script is just like a lyric book with the pictures inside on pages in between.

It exceeds all my expectations. Admittedly, some of the vocal layering grates after awhile, but I like the musical landscape of the songs enough to forgive that.
Danny Steven's falsetto is ehhh, but his full voice is amazing. Brendon Urie really blew me away. I've always felt his voice lacked control, but it is flawless on this record. I wish Casey featured more prominently.
One thing I was worried about ended up going pretty smoothly: leitmotifs in terms of characters. There's a nice union of Pallis/Adakias/Anhura on the last track, "The End and the Beginning." Pallis has a kind of dark provocative tango, Adakias comes in with something loud (arrogant, almost?) and latin-y, and then Anhura comes in with the flowery piano. I wondered if the leitmotifs would sound too disconnected, something that wasn't helped by being slightly jarred by recognition of website clips in the songs, but I think they work well for the most part.
There are moments of pure genius, usually during some dramatic build.
OMG. Can you tell I love it? Haha.
I think Greta and Lizzie really shined on the record. Both have gorgeous voices, and I think they'll both get the attention they deserve after this is out for a bit.

Was anyone else a little confused by the plot? I want to have a proper listen with the script.

The only song I like is the Doctor song. To me, it's the only song that really fits the musical thing.

I wrote about it at length in the general forum's thread. In short not a fan.
I'll be investing some time in this read before I listen to anything to get some perspective from the hype train.

Maybe it will take a few listens to get to me, but I admire the ambitious take Thomas went about to record this. Disappointing upon first listen, however, I need to give it some more time.

I absolutely love it. It automatically became my favorite album ever.
The only thing that throws me off is the part of the story with the Bawaba Brothers (Holy the Sea). They didn't really explain who the brothers are, or how they know the things about Adakias' family. It's a great song, but I just wanted more information from that part.
Other than that, not a single thing wrong with it. The arrangements are brilliant, and the accapella intermission is pure genius. Best album of 2008, hands down.

for real, and they should be promoting the shit out of it because this is probably the best album ever released on FBR.

It's ummm, I don't know what to say.
I just started to listen to it.
It's not bad, but it's not my cup of tea.
I like the musical concept though.

Not worth a velvet painting of a whale and a dolphin getting it on.
Finally giving this a proper listen, years after I saw it performed live at Bamboozle.
Interesting.
