View Full Version : So video game geeks, if I like Advance Wars..
I'm not too familiar with strategy games. I have played Advance Wars (and the sequels/etc) extensively, and I love that game play style. What is a good game (any major console.. GCN, Wii, 360, PS2, PS3, whatever) that is similar to that (fairly simple to play) and multi-player? I want to play with my roomates in our living room on the bigscreen.. Advance Wars super-sized would be ideal, but if there's nothing like that, what are some good turnbased games lke that?
thanks

Fire Emblem is great, and its on multiple consoles. But i think no multiplayer.
actually if u have a computer you can download a game boy advanced emulator, download advanced wars, then hook it up to your tv with a cable or something

Final Fantasy Tactics
Final Fantasy Tactics
That's not multiplayer and is also like ten years old.

Final Fantasy Tactics for PS1 is still the best game in that genre though.

Battalion Wars (i think this was supposed to be advanced wars but like for wii)
Get a "gameboy player" it hooks up to the bottom of your GCN and you play gameboy advanced games in it, you can prolly get one pretty cheap.

Not online, but for $20 and a shitload of hours of strategic gameplay, I'd say Disgaea: Hour of Darkness.
The Civilization series is pretty damn good. Games take forever to finish, but it's really satisfying. I don't think that there's multiplayer though.

Multiplayer was added in the Civilization III Expansion packs.
Civilization Revolution has multiplayer and it's for PS3. It's kinda like Civilization-lite, where games only take a couple hours to complete instead of a few days.
Also, Age of Wonders is a fantasy turn-based game that's for PC. It's about 5 years old but still has a large community.
